Wow Leighton definitely has an edgy side, she looks great love the cut of the black dress even though it is a bit sheer in the backside for me but she can pull it off, the hair and makeup are perfect with the look

I love it! The sheer bum isn't great though. She's lucky that she's got such a classically beautiful and angelic face to set off the harshness of the dress, it's an interesting juxtaposition. However on the other hand, I ordinarily wouldn't think she'd be able to pull this outfit of but she does.

It's nice that Leighton (or Leighton and her stylist) are supporting smaller designers. She could have easily pulled out a short time little Gucci number and satisfied advertisers (or Gossip Girl wardrobe supporters - Ralph Lauren, Valentino, though they wouldn't have been appropriate for the MTV awards). I think she's clearly making a concerted effort to move away from the 'Blair Waldorf look' and she's pulling it off admirably. And obviously racking up some fashion industry cache in the process.
