Finally saw Country Strong. It was just watchable. After the horror(ble) Roommate (which I also saw about 2 weeks back), I was glad to see she picked a semi-decent movie. I enjoyed her singing too.

Costume-wise:

The Roommate: boring. They tell us her character is a fashionista but she neither dresses nor acts like one. I can't remember one single outfit from that movie that she wore. I do remember the hoodie, but that's only because of the creepy shower scene.

Country Strong: Discloser: I think country music goes overboard with the glitzy elements. Clothes look like costumes rather than clothes. And cheap too. (One of these days I'm going to find out who country music stars consider their haute couture designers though. Because while I dislike the fashion, it is also fascinates me at the same time.) However, these didn't seem so bad. Gwyneth had the better wardrobe throughout, but Leighton had a few nice pieces too. I especially like the white cocktail dress Leighton wore at the beginning of the movie.

Not sure I really like the dress... it would be nice if it weren't for the bottom part - it's not very Blair. I do however like the fact that Blair is being dressed in clothes more age appropriate and not so old lady. I can't even remember the last time she wore something above the, gasp, knee! This is definitely an improvement.

That dress is gross. Although, I don't like the C/B pairing either. Initially, I was right there with everybody else, but he lost me as soon as he prostituted her. And with the violent/aggressive way he's been handling her lately, there is no way on earth they can ever redeem this couple in my eyes. On to the next. Blan! or Dair! Whichever it is, lol.
