Apparently sick of people complimenting her figure (how tiring!), Leonor Varela created a diversion: She donned a confusing, malformed gold-satin atrocity with an unexplained stomach patch, made sure it pulled and strained awkwardly around every last curve, and then wrinkled the skirt in the limo before walking the carpet.
Congratulations, Leonor. It was indeed the perfect way to create confusion. I'm officially befuddled.

A scene from Cleopatra (1999 Leonor with Billy Zane, her co-star, which whom she had an affair - that started on the set - and that lasted a year or two (kind of like Liz Taylor & Richard Burton in Cleopatra 40 years earlier).

The dress is horrible at the MTV awards... but her face and her hair are perfect! She has a really cute face. I still hope that she's going to get a great new movie... she did it great in Cleopatra, why not again?

Cleopatra was just fine - for a made-for-TV movie, made 7 years ago. But she's done so much better. Innocent Voices was her best work to date (shown her in NY in Fall of '05). I just don't understand why it's not out on DVD.
Americano was also super - a really nice romantic comedy - a great date movie - set in Pamplona during the running of the bulls - out her in NY this Spring, but only given very limited distribution. She proved herself a fine comedic actress here, opposite Josh Jackson (of Dawson's Creek fame).It is alleged that Tom Cruise has been out to torpedo Josh Jackson's career ever since Jackson made some disparaging comments about scientology and TC's marriage to Katie Holmes, and that TC made sure Americano would never get wide distribution. Too bad Leonor got caught in the crossfire! The Region 1 DVD (USA & Canada) is readily available, definately woth watching.

Three sized wallpapers of Leonor from the film Tais-toi! - from the Tais-toi website. Roughly translated from French Tais-toi means "Be Silent" or "Be Quiet!" The film, from France, (2003), a half serious, half comic story of two escaped convicts on the run, with Jean Reno & Gerard Depardieu, and with Leonor playing two seperate roles, was evidently a huge hit in France, even outgrossing some big American imports. There is a Region 1 DVD available, the trouble is that it is in French only, with no subtitles.

Lovely Leonor, at the ALMA Awards, May 2006. I think she looks smashing in that red dress. She's gotten it all together here (unlike on some other occasions the hair, the shoes, her makeup - like she just stepped out of one of those John Singer Sargent paintings of gilded age posh ladies. Of course I'm sure some will disagree.

Yeah, maybe the dress isn't beautiful but sometimes who wears it makes it beautiful. And this is the case. Leonor looks so beautiful! Probably this are one of the most beautiful pictures i've seen of her. She looks really stunning! I love her scar on her lips. Thank you!

You're welcome, PrincesseDaria. It's nice to know someone stops by from time to time to check out the Leonor thread. I'm a great fan of hers, and, along with a few others, feel obliged to keep the flame burning, however & wherever I can. Sometimes I feel like the proverbial voice crying in the wilderness. I guess I just like rooting for the underdog (excuse the expression in reference to lovely Leonor). She's really a fine actress and deserves a big break. And at the age of 34 the clock in ticking!
