Louis Vuitton S/S 2008 : Top Models by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot

I'm a little dissapointed by the fact that, with all of the crap piled on for the runway (hats, gloves, jewelry, stockings, layers, layers, layers) they were extremely safe here.

Stephanie's is styled well, the colors and transparency look great, as is Eva's. But Naomi's and especially Natalia's are boring in terms of the clothes they used.

You're right, just like last season, the feel of the collection as shown on the runway is not reflected at all in the ad campaign.

The supermodels in question are Stephanie Seymour and Eva Herzigova are slated to break in February magazines, followed by Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Angela Lindvall and Natalia Vodianova in subsequent months,
each with their own candy-colored cars and handbags.
“It is kind of groundbreaking to have six of the supermodels together,” said Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications, adding that, “if [Jacobs] was managing the budget, he would have even taken 12.”

six of the Supermodels? Angela and Natalia are not Supermodels.

Stephanie, Claudia, Naomi and Eva are Supers.

I wonder which models Marc would shorse if he had the budget for 12 models? Would he have gone for the rermaining six nursen of the runway show lien up, or for Kate, Daria and maybe some other supers?

And what will the one page ads look like?

Natalia is not a supermodel??? What in the world do you mean?   Just because someone is a supermodel from a different era, doesn't make her not one.

erm, hate to burst your bubble, but Stephanie is not a super. the other 3, yes. it's Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford who are missing (why do people tend to overlook Cindy???)

I hope this will not turn out in a tedious discussion about the defenition of the term 'super model'. I think all these girls are supermodels, most of them are not from the original super models but in this day and age they are, in my humble opinion.

No, she's not, Natalia is a representative Top Model of the early 00's but really far form being a Supermodel, she has never had a household name like Claudia, Naomi, Cindy and the rest. the sames goes for Angela. ^_^

erm, it seems like you will have to burst another bubble because Stephanie is one of the original Supermodels and there's no chance to change that, it's history!

ur trapped in the past.

nothing to do, but that concept of the Supermodels is very 80's and early 90's, it was a cultural movement of that era and that's it, these days there are no supermodels so that's why when I read "Supermodels Angela and Natalia" I was like "uh?"

Today's definition (not the 1992 definition) of a supermodel is a model who's developed enough of a reputation and an impressive enough portfolio that 5 or 6 years after their peak of success, they're still hired for big shows, campaigns and editorials.

Natalia especially has had countless features, full on multi-page articles about her career and her life in a few different magazines....if that doesn't warrant the term supermodel, I don't know what does.

^Agreed. The term supermodel was used already in the 60s. I've seen it used about Verushka by her contemporaries (reading the old mags). Every decade has its supermodels. The 90s supermodel is the most extreme one to date, of course. I would be a little hesitant to call Angela a supermodel - she's not as prolific as Natalia who seems to be able to grab a number of major Vogue covers and any number of editorials at will.
