Male Model Fired for Eating Croissant on Bruce Weber Abercrombie & Fitch Photoshoot

whatever the real storry was, the way it was presented out here it indeed sounds ridiculous and puts A&F in a very negative light...and they lost ceuase the male models looks really cute...on the other hand if they really have such stupid rules then this is what happens when they hire kids to do a job. I always thought using too young models is ridiculous, so what can you expect from a kid...they eat croissants, do some other silly things;))
But I would lvoe to see the guy in a croissant photo shoot! That would be so much fun and very yummy!

As a stylist, I think I have to comment on this ...

Eating at a shoot IS a huge no-no. Especially if the model is already clothed and styled and even with hair + make up on. Clothes can get stained because of the model and if they're lent you (as a stylist) will have to pay a couple of hundred if not thousand of $$$.

Abercrombie does fit the bill in that regard .. and Im not sure if eating might ef up his makeup but if I was at a beachy photoshoot and had my model covered in crumbs when I have an entire crew ready, Id be pissed off.

There are alloted moments to eat and no, I dont monitor what models eat or not eat. But this might happen, Ive heavily reprimended models at shoots for smoking whilst wearing clothes Ive lent.

A + F s*cks b*lls anyway .. I love the fact that there are ZERO A&F stores in this God-forsaken country.

^and no A/F clothing costs in the hundreds much less thousands.

Did you see that making of video of this month's vogue italia cover + story?
I saw Lindsey Wixson eating twizzlers while still dressed ~in luxurious and expensive clothing~ and with make up.

lol;)) love all the comments...I guess it was an akward moment during this croissant A&C shoot...eventhough fashion people are B..i.tchy, it is a job after all and models(as workers) must follow the rules...they can survive a few hours without eating...and if somebody is so much conserned about the clothes they hire professional models...normally no goog model gets paid only $1500 for a week long job for advertising.

I still get cravings for croissants every time I visit this thread.

but its not just few hours, its like 15 hours....

when i was 14 i did some shooting that lasted 18 hrs. no food, no coffee, no leaving the studio, nothing.

I personally have been a model at an A&F shoot and all of us models were fed at a huge buffet (and told to eat) AFTER we had already been clothed in our outfits. The shoots are all-day long, meaning 12-15 hour days, so there's no way to 'wait until before or after' the shoot. But you must always be dressed in your outfit, ready to go, as if bruce calls your name, you must 'go! run!' haha. 'just be careful not to stain the clothes' is what they said. But that really sounds odd , that they would fire the model...perhaps he was eating while on the actual location, behind the camera. Because most of the day you are talking and eating and waiting, waiting waiting.

^Croissants don't stain clothes. Crumbs can be wiped off.

Yes but it does leaves LOTS of flakes ... and if most likely the model was shirtless and probably with some sort of tan or lotion the flakes must be stuck to his chest and abs .. and if you are shooting on early or late daylight every minute counts.

We all know that, some clients dont care about it, and some do. After all returning clothes dirty or whatever is unprofessional.

Did you see "The September Issue" with Raquel Z eating come pastry wearing couture??? I can tell you, there was a stylist collective gasp (still, one of my fave scenes from the documentary) :P

I don't know where you are getting your croissants, but the good ones are chock full of butter, and if you don't think they will stain clothes, I encourage you to try it... just set that croissant down on some fabric... or even wipe your fingers on your clothes after eating it... I guarantee you will get some nice buttery stains. :D Mmm, croissant...

This is by no means meant as an apology for A&F, they are a bad joke.

Yes  I mean,I haven't watched it but someone told me about it and I thought it was really polite and professional from Raquel Zimmerman no wonder why she made it big

Ridiculous story but I couldn't help but recognise the model's name.. We were in the same class in school, I can't believe he's a model now !

I literally had some honey croissants the other night...:innocent: It was kind of beautiful.
