The Hitler thing wasn't 'used' as an excuse, it was a very valid ground for dismissal. She was fired because she was very critical of her director and this Hitler thing is used as a convenient excuse.
You do not compare your Jewish boss to Hitler, even in jest. Or if you do, you do not do so on the record in a printed interview, especially when you work in a image and communication-based industry like film-making. I doubt Michael's feelings were hurt (Spielberg obviously reacted more sanguinely than Bay did), but that doesn't make the remark less insensitive and idiotic.
Do I think Michael Bay is a misogynistic pig who is probably an horrible boss? Yes. Yet, that does not excuse in any way Megan's unprofessional and disrespectful attitude.
I am at loss at to why people are taking sides in this 'feud'. Both Bay and Megan acted appealingly, and I can't see how the behavior of Bay can be used to justify Megan's, or vice-versa.
People keep bringing up Angelina Jolie.
Well, let's do compare them where it matters, then: Jolie is the best paid and most powerful actress in Hollywood. She started at the bottom of the food chain, like Megan, staring in music videos, doing the 't*ts & ****' photoshoots and playing the 'girlfriend' in poor quality movies. Don't you think she hasn't met many directors who treated her with less than respect? Don't you think there are many men in Hollywood on whose grave she'll happily spit?
Yet, Angelia has steadily climbed the ladder of the Hollywood hierarchy because she is a professional, and doesn't wash her dirty linen in the public. She'll talk about her private life all you want but you won't find a quote of her trashing her colleagues or employers.
And this is why Megan will never have the career of Angelina.
