For once in the modelling industry, I'd like some estability when it comes to castings. It's good to have an influx of new girls every season but then they are GONE the next one? I miss the days when you were certain that some girls will walk shows. This last NYFW has been the living proof of disastrous and inconsistent casting. When will this end?!

I think now designers are looking for more specific type of girls for their brand instead of looking for 'canvas' girls, girls who can easily translate looks from one designer to another. In a way, that's good. The right girl in the right look can totally enhance the message of a collection but when you see girls who are just down right odd getting exclusives slots just for the sake of bringing someone new, something's not right.

Gone are the days of who walked more shows, now it's all about what shows you did. Now it's the time for intelligent model management.

^I fully expect half of those NY girls to barely register in Paris/Milan. Instead, I think we'll have big shows dominated by the girls who've been in the business for a few years. I think it's been the case the past few seasons (not sure how it was before) where NYFW becomes breeding ground for new girls but established ones take over Milan/Paris.

I'm rather surprised that Michelle casted Unique this season, as it seemed to be full of a lot of his favourites. That had me hoping for the show's opener, Ashley Smith, though I expect to see her in at least one Marsh show this season.

the casting for girls is Karlie and the futures...anyone before her just didnt do well this season

^ "Didn't do well" - hasn't FW just (really) started?
I mean, yes the NY shows are already done and London is more or less drawn to a close aswell (not to mention that many girls are skipping it anyway and either preparing themselves for the other cities or doing Madrid - anyone noticed that there are more and more established girls there each season?). But I think Milan and Paris are certainly the real fashion capitals, and the cities to watch out for when it comes to Model Cast.
So, for me - fashionweek and Newface-following doesn't really begin until the Europe shows.

That's because Madrid pays a lot better. Plus the shows are all taken in the same venue so it's easier for the models. You can read that all in Nimues thread ;)

Who is in Madrid? I know Iris is there and now Nimue.

Diana Farkhullina, Marina Perez and Daiane Conterato are doing Madrid instead of London aswell (just for the record :p)

I've already assumed something like that - but thanks for the info!

Alla is also in Madrid.

It seems London is especially thin on big names this season. Reading the names for each show in the Casting thread is like reading in a foreign language. 99% of the names are completely unknown to me and the few girls there who are established aren't even that big (for the most part).

Giles will have a cast of 50 girls, including:

Alessandra Ambrosio
Ana BB
Anne V
Chanel Iman
Agyness

Agreed, but I think the cast will be stellar, unfortunately it means all the girls will only have 1 look :(

TheLFWDaily
Janice Dickinson, Abbey Clancy, Jessica Stam, Chanel Iman, Kelly Brooke, Dree Hemmingway, Coco Rocha walking at Giles-to name but a few #lfw
