Nicolas Ghesquière - Designer, Creative Director of Louis Vuitton

It's not even the dress that's downgraded. He went with Kristen Stewart! Like really, Nicolas? :(

not defending Kristen Stewart but I have a theory that Nicolas likes those types of women that looks effortless and a bit tomboyish (like Charlotte Gainsbourg). I think Kristen evokes that but her effortless looks more messy/scruffy compared to Gainsbourg-more beauty effortless.

I still cannot get over that dress she wore though. Balenciaga makes me cry

Apart from Balenciaga collections looking... well, let's say different than few seasons ago, it's a real shame they chose the worst outfit possible from that collection.

I do think it seems a bit lazy to just pick a dress from the most recent collection and change the color around a bit when a custom gown would have seemed much more appropriate. However, I think the dress suits Kristen Stewart very well and I personally thought she looked really nice (but the more I look at them the more make me those shoes seriously nauseous). Plus, many people turned up in much less sophisticated looks than usual this year.

With that said, I think Nicolas looked more handsome than ever and I think him and Kristen made a great pair.

I don't think that a gown with frills is really the style of Nicolas Ghesquière. This dress in some way is like a business card. It represents the image Balenciaga want to have for their brand: modern and avant-gardiste.

Saw an article on Bloomberg today quoting NYTimes that Ghesquiere may design for louis vuitton. Will be really interesting if it's true!

^yes, saw it as well! Would be truly interesting actually...

Hot on the heels of the official announcement that Marc Jacobs was stepping down from his position as creative director at Louis Vuitton, we now know who will be ushered in as the new head honcho at the fashion maison. It has been confirmed that former Balenciaga artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere beat out many contenders to fill in Marc Jacob’s shoes

many contenders? who else was up for it?

great news though!!

Yay, bring it on! Can't wait for the results!

I was thinking about this possibility today, I swear! Guess my timing is perfect then  Great news!

This was basically already out right? :D
Well i'm glad he's back to designing but i was hoping for a namesake brand or something more exciting. Absolutely looking forward to next season though

Good because one thing we can't afford is a long break from Nicolas. I can't wait see how he will take this. LV doesn't have a solid heritage and look for ready-to-wear so I expect him to have much more creative freedom this time around, and we all know he can make fantastic accessories. Ugh can we start FW 14 already?
