is it just me or does anyone find the Eric/Rebecca relationship really quite romantic in a rather tragic way?

He obviously loves her and cares for her very much - if he went to all the trouble to try to keep her clean and happy (when she is so troubled)..and from the photos, it seems she really cares for him too and relies on him a fair bit. Sad that the d**gs seems to have ruined so much
