Number (N)ine Mens F/W 09.10 Paris

egads, those cape pieces are gorgeous! and the workmanship is astoundingly beautiful! also love the military cuttings and stylings. also, the materials they feel richly antique and recycled....incredibly organic and romantic.

like a left bank poet from the 18th cent.,this collection feels to me.

I love this. I do enjoy the depraved Edwardian fop theme of the majority of the menswear collections, the anomalies -- this, Pugh, and to a certain extent, Margiela -- are more progressive.

Quote:
“Today we received a letter (an actual letter, so you know it’s serious) from Number (N)ine. It started with this quote: “When you’re finished changing, you’re finished.” You guessed it: the Tokyo-based, Paris-showing men’s label launched 12 years ago by Takahiro Miya****a is closing. The fall ‘09 collection—portentously called A Closed Feeling—was the last. The letter went on to say “Over the last decade, Number (N)ine evolved, always forging ahead with a unique and potent vision, to emerge as one of the leading brands of Japan.” We agree with the sentiment. Number (N)ine will be (m)issed.”

say it ain't so :(

Pretty confirmed. I kept the invite to the last show, now I guess I should get it framed..

I loved the last collection so much it feels like someone just died in my arms.

I guess that answers why the pieces presented in the collection were so elaborate they were guaranteed to be unaffordable.

Ugh, that's sad....it's established a small following even though it didn't get beyond the fringe. It is probably too "hipster"-oriented to reach a wider market, especially at such a price point.

and after such a beautiful collection too....seems oddly portentous now.

Info confirmed by PR. It is now official and should be out on many sites soon.

I can't say I saw this coming... but this collection definitely gave off a very deep, very personal and very strong message- so much so that i don't feel surprised. it felt so somber even though he clearly put his all into it. I have to say if he's gonna go out - this was the way to do it. this collection was just so beautifully poetic; as if the man of this collection is wearing literally everything he has, on his sleeve (whole body), even down to his lonely hotel upholstery.

Sorry to see this go- recently bought a few pieces.
