I'll be honest with you. I've never hated one-shoulder tops. What is most appealing about one-shoulder tops is the romantic appeal to them. Remove a shoulder from a top or dress, and prepare to enjoy something appealing and flirty for the warm seasons. If you have appealing shoulders, this would be a great way to show off a flirty and fun side of you. For a romantic twist, a lady could probably wear a traditional bra with a bra strap showing. No one would ever attempt this. So the next best thing is to get a strapless bra.
The kinds of one-shoulder (asymmetrical) tops I've seen usually ranged from flirty tops to even something more appropriate for nightclubs. Funny enough, one girl wore a one-shoulder top to school that had its own collar kind of tacked-on. I prefer one-shoulder tops that have an even flow. My favorite one-shoulder tops or dresses from Post #1 include that gray dress from BCBG Max Azria, both Juan Carlos Obando dresses, and especially the stunning silver dress from Douglas Hannant + Erin Fetherston. I'm a bit neutral on the silver and black dress from the Jason Wu + Nicole Miller. I guess my least favorite one is the white dress from Abaeté. The one-shoulder look isn't completely clean for me with that dress. I prefer a smoothly-styled one-shoulder design. Same would go if I saw something like a spaghetti-strap tank top that had only one strap. You have to have a consistent flow to a one-shoulder design to look great. All or most of the ones in this thread have that needed flow to look amazing.
