Parsons School of Fashion, New York

^^ I think it's close to 50k including housing, I THINK.

Anyone now how tough it is to get into the Fashion Marketing AAS program?

Ahhh. Wait is it really necessary to have a car? Or like is everything walking distance cause I'm thinking of saving a couple grand for tuition and buy the car later.

^^ Hell no!! The campus is in the middle of the city and you have options on transportaiton that run 24/7. You don't want a car in NYC, trust me. Put the money for the car towards your tuition. NYC is a walking city.

Oohh id love to study here espesially in new york but the money is crazy and being from out usa you cant work with a student visa how crappys that :(:( ..looks likeill be giving it a miss then

It's 54k according to the letter they sent me..nothing extra for out of state since it's a private school.

directly from high school, do people apply for AAS at parsons for fashion design before the BFA?
If it doesn't effect me much, i really would prefer not taking AAS, extra 2 yrs is gonna make the money load even higher.
So did everyone just go right to BFA? is that is even possible?

For those who attended/attending parsons what would you suggest? Go straight for the BFA? (I'm assuming BFA is lot harder to get in than AAS)

There's tuition and then board, and then you have the tri-weekly visits to Utrecht, and then muslin and textbooks (which can get really expensive). Think more around the ball park of 60k a year, at minimum.

No, no one from highschool applies for the AAS program. You probably will be denied if you do. The AAS program is for those who have a previous degree.

Go straight to the BFA. That's the only way. And yes, the BFA is harder to get into, but no harder than any design school worth their salt.

Hello fellow tfs,:flower: I'm just wondering has anyone here taken an AAS Fashion Marketing Degree? Can anyone enlighten me about this course? In terms of lecturers, studies and job prospects..

i'm a complete newbie at all this , can someome please explain the difference between AAS and BFA programmes?

I'm considering applying for the fashion marketing AAS program, anyone know if the job prospects after graduation are good compared to if I go somewhere like LIM?

^
Parsons self-proclaim their degree with give the higher upperhand. Bu according to some people it is not effective as one may imagine for the money one pays.

Lim i do not recommend.. as an alternative i would consider FIT

Like remember though, due to parsons competetiveness not many survive the graduating year, and knowing them can be quite valuable.

AAS (Associate of Arts and Sciences) - 2 yr program
BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) - Depends

Some schools like FIT, you have to finish 2 yrs of aas -> 2 yrs of bfa

Parsons in the other hand you do 5 yrs of BFA OR 2 yrs of AAS.

even though the AAS program is for those who already have degrees, would you say that one with a BFA from the school would be more competitive in the job market?

How much is it for an international student, does anyone know. I read that for every sem it's like 40 000 and there's 2 semesters in a year right? The website was just beyond confusing and didn't mention anything about the extra fees international kisd have to pay. oi vey. does anyone know the price compared to FIT or other schools?

Does Parson's accept transfer students?

I want to transfer to a more in depth school after my second year of college, and Parson's as well as FIT and others are possible options.I'm getting totally free tuition at the school I'm going to attend now so I will have money set aside that I can use in the future ,in addition to grants and scholarships.

Hi, I'm new to this forum^^; I was wondering does Parsons offer any scholarships? and whether or not SATs are required for qualification? Their site is rather confusing and I don't live in NY :|
