Parsons School of Fashion, New York

Snejana: Yes, they accept transfer students. But here is my advice, it's not just tuition you're paying for, it's also living in NYC which is another matter in itself. If I was in your situation, I would graduate with a degree for FREE and consider doing a second degree or the AAS program which accepts students only if they have a prior degree. It is so hard to get a free education these days and you are very lucky to be in the position you're in. Please appreciate what you have going for yourself and finish. Transferring is not equal and so you run a chance of starting all over again because Parsons is very picky about what is willing and not willing to accept as credits. Please consider this.

Lucky7BB: yes, Parsons has scholarships. SATs are required as well as good grades. You should contact them for more specific information.

do parson have that international program, like FIT where you can go away in international schools like CSM for a semester or so?

Yes, at Parsons you could go away to CSM for up to a year.

haha..you know what... .i just asked our fashion department in may...about going to CSM for study abroad..and all of the instructors and advisors said absolutely not...
and i said..are you sure...(cos i heard of some people that did)...and they said..noo..
the people at parsons are freaking crazy..
i don't know why i go there sometimes :(

educo...are you at csm now? how is it?

I know for sure when I went (which was last year) there was an exchange program, because I was debating going into the BFA so I can study at CSM for a year. And no I'm not at CSM now.

Apparently, they don't have a relationship with CSM anymore, they have a pending contract with Chelsea.

what are you up to lately educo?[/quotI think the reason why is that you could go to CSM and get financial assistance from the US government. So it is pointless to just go for one year to get aid when you can go for the entire program and get aid for the whole thing.

I am working my *** here, lot of projects for fashion week!

Parsons AAS Fashion Marketing

Hi everyone! I've been accepted to the Parsons Fashion Marketing AAS program and will start this fall. I am very excited, but at the same time, I have mixed feelings as the new semester is approaching. I already have a BA and have a few years of work experience outside the fashion industry. I concluded the best way to redirect my career will be attending this Fashion Marketing AAS program at Parsons.

However, I am anxious on how helpful going to school again to get an AAS degree will be. This is a big investment for me money & time-wise. Is there anyone who went through/or knows someone who graduated from the AAS program? If so, I'd greatly appreciate any input on how the experience was and how the program helped landing a job after graduation.

^i would also love to hear some feedback on that program. thanks!

The AAS program is VERY intensive. It is helpful for students who have a degree in an unrelated program, but falls short if you already have experience in the field. There is no guarantee of a job of course, but having Parsons on your resume helps ALOT, trust me. It will definitely get you in the door, but you have to back it up, so work hard and stay on top of your s*&t.

Silly question, but do Parsons students have any free time? I'm going to FIT while two of my really good friends are going to Parsons and I want to know how often I'll be seeing then..

is Parsons really all it boasts to be?

hi,im new to these forums, and im a fashion design student in milan,im thinking about transfering to parsons as i think ill have more opportunities than in milan for internships, and well,it is Parsons,so would anyone who goes there mind telling me if parsons is really all that good?is it worth it?

They are right lol. I spent one semester there, and I had to leave... poor me it was too expensive. I couldn't afford to continue my education there. If I could I would have been so delited too. I wanted to go back to finish the AAS degree, I could do the one year now but they are sooo expensive. I would take them any time over FIT to be honest. I could just pay FIT out of pocket which is the only reason why I was considering going there instead of Parsons.

You spend hours, and hours, and hours there, but if it is something that you enjoy then hey...

But do the FIT's have free time?

hey everyone im new to this thread. i've been thinking of doing a summer course at parsons but i can't find a thread about the summer courses. has anyone had any experiences from the courses and would like to share? thanks

There are 2 threads about summer courses ... this one specifically about Parsons and this one about summer and on-line courses in general.

I found them by doing an advanced search (necessary because the regular search yeilds way too much stuff) asking only for thread titles in Careers and Education, using the keyword "summer" and found them easily. So ... if you need help in learning how to search effectively, there's a thread pinned at the top of the Member Support forum called "Searching for Something?" ... where you can learn more about it.
