Personal must-haves for F/W 07.08

decided it was too similar to my Tao shawl (which I haven't worn ).

you know i got one too at the end of last season...right?...
and i haven't worn mine either...
but that didn't stop me...

...

anyway= the top is going to be easier to wear than the shawl i think...
and i LOVE the darn shawl so freaking much that i had to get the top BECAUSE it's so similar....

i think it MUST be tao..no?
i am dying to see the label once it gets here....
:D

wiw- that dress is adorable...
i think red sneakers would be cute with rolled up jeans actually...
:woot:

Thanks, soft. I think the top you and Lucky purchased is by Tao aswell. The rosettes give it away...

so much good stuff here!

luckyme and softgrey - that junya dress is superb!! I have a feeling the picture at Browns does it no justice ... I hope one of you posts a pic when you get it.

luckyme - those are some fantastic purchases. That Comme top is so special

lovin it - that dress is too cool! are you going to get it??

I received my Sari Gueron cardigan and think I'm going to be living in it this fall/winter. Here's a picture of a typical outfit I'd wear ... nothing very new or exciting but very cozy! I think it would go well with the narrow pants that everyone is talking about and am suddenly feeling the urge for a pair of stovepipe pants. Laika, I saw the pair you wrote about from Vanessa Bruno Athe. It looks cute, but I find Vanessa Bruno Athe pants to fit terrible ... the main line is much better for pants, on me anyway.

Apologize for the terrible picture quality

luckyme, when I was in the Burberry store today I was talking to them about "your" shoes ... they had them displayed in a ridiculously small size so I couldn't really get a sense of the heel height, but they told me they're telling people to come in and try them on rather than order because they're so high ... the little zipper in the back is kinda cute :p And the heel is really a pretty shape.

Here's "my" shoe ... tried on in black, they're ordering for me in red so I can choose ...

tourist...i think that looks awesome...
i would totally wear that!...:woot:...

btw- i got the comme top...not the junya dress..
though it IS on my radar...:innocent:...

tata...i LOVE those...but moreso in black...

these are the skinny pants i got...
totally cheap- vera wang for kohl's-on sale for $39.99..:p
not so much stovepipe ...those looked hideous on me around the waist...
they are what we used to refer to as a 'cigarette' pant...
with ankle zips and all...

these actually fit pretty nicely and for the price...
i couldn't pass it up...plus i got more off by using a kohl's card......
they were practically free...
^_^...
*sorry about the sh*tty kohls.com pic...
pls ignore the shoes...imagine some high heel booties or something
;)...they are also a bit longer on me...of course...

Soft, what's the material like? I was eyeing the same cigarette pt., too. Will probably have to wait for the website to re-stock, though. Thanks! :flower:

Tourist, missed your lovely outfit somehow. The cardigan is so ageless. Your boots are amazing, too! They've always been a favorite of mine.

thanks softgrey and wheneveriwakeup!

and thanks for the info on the pants, softgrey. I don't think I would have ever looked at those, that picture is indeed bad! I'll have to stop by Kohl's tomorrow. I was worried that the zipper would cause hemming problems, but I see that the inseam is 27" ... perfect for tucking into booties for me!!

wiw- the fabric is a gabardine...polyester w/5% spandex-machine washable...:flower:

btw- i got those long blk gloves too...
but i returned them...
they were not good-
all the fingers were the same length..
the pinky finger was the same length as my middle finger...
which it clearly isn't......
so it look really sloppy and crap imo...
that is why i opted for a fingerless pair which i actually like quite a lot!

my first tao piece...B), glad join the club, I'm in such good company.

ta-ta, they said they are really high, oye, I guess as long as I don't trip and puncture myself . those bottega's are sensational ...they remind me of a cat mask a bit; the red patent would have been my choice too, they are unusual enough that I would have gone the whole nine yards with them as well.

lovinit, good graphic prints, those are my weakness, that's what's so great about much of the marni wear and etro too. won't the fur collar be hot? is it removeable?

wiw, let us know when you find the dress of your dreams. do you wear alot of vintage? a dress like that would look great with a spot of red under it, but you can't have any kind of belly with the drop waist.

tourist, I can't really see the cardigan well, but you dress much like I do. :flower:

laika, you have alot of catching up to do :p. let me help...check out this website for lots of dries shoes and chie mihara's. http://www.gimmeshoes.com/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=8

Yep, Lucky, I love infusing modernity into vintage dresses. Nothing too nostalgic, though. Drop-waists are actually flattering on me, thankfully, so if something comes up it should work out! ^_^

The Simply Vera cigarette pts. seem like a winner. Great price, too.

This thread is so wonderful. Nice to know that so many others plan ahead, aswell!

I think you're right. We do have some overlapping Dries items, that's for sure! Although I think you are more daring than I am (that's a good thing!)

I didn't realize that Gimme had an online shop now. It's my favorite shoe store in SF (well, probably until Barneys opens next week). Too bad they no longer carry Ann Dem. shoes ... I got a pair of boots there for 50% off. I guess that's why. Thanks for the link!

I really like those Dries with the zipper. I wish Gimme would carry the burgundy version, like at Browns. Shoes are really confusing me this season. I feel like nothing's really calling my name.

girl, you are so lucky to be able to pull off drop waists...please post what you find. I'm always intrigued by those who do clever things with vintage clothing and I have no doubt you're really good at it :flower:.

daring or crazy, its a fine line I travel...

gimmeshoes has a wonderful selection of shoe designers. can't wait for the sales to start to see what they have left. I hope they post it when the time comes.

Lucky, you've made me blush!

I want to post pics, esp. to participate in the waywt thread but alas, purchasing a digital camera seems irrelevant when there are so many lovely garments to be had. My priorities are severely skewed.

Well, the Burberry do have a nice platform on them, which really helps. I can see you wearing them now B)

Glad y'all like them, and I had that mask thought too ;) I love the top stitching, and I think they look better in person (could be the difference between prototype and production??). They really make your foot look small, and it's almost like there's a touch of platform in there somewhere. When I get them home I will really look them over & figure out what's going on

I am a bit torn on the color. I really thought they were a cantaloupe color because of the ad, though I'd noticed in the runway pix they seemed more red. But they're totally doing that colorway this season, and they even told me in the store they'd been made in pink! So finally today I talked to the manager, and she had the straight story. If you remember my "Chinese New Year" shoes--I already have red patent Mary Janes. These are different, and I believe a different red, but that's why I hesitate on the color. I think they're really a great black shoe, not basic but will work that way, so ... we shall see ...

PS What do we have to do to get you girls to break out those Tao shawls? :D

i confess...

i took apart my tao shawl to use for a photoshoot...

and i am having trouble putting it back together...:ninja:...
it is two pieces with several ties and buttons that can all be done various ways...
and i am not sure what to do with it...

i have to spend some time working it out...
:p

maybe we could have a thread for that?
i'll post the pics and you guys can take turns suggesting various ways to tie it and button it...?...
:innocent:...

and laika can post hers as well so we can see if it is the same or a different variation on the theme...

^_^...

Whoa, lots of excitement here today! :woot:

ta-ta, those shoes are soooo pretty, and very "you," from what I can tell. I adore the stitching.

tourist, you look so lovely! Like a dark version of the runway. I am curious to know what you find difficult about Athe pants? i have never tried them before....usually my issue with her pants is that they are too bulky in the hip and waist area.

lucky, you are such a temptress! :ninja: I need to wait for sales for shoes, I think. Except for the red sneakers which I am determined to hunt down.

soft, you got the shawl in black, yes? Mine is grey, so it's really very similar to the top (this is how i talk myself out of things, you know.)

re:those Tao shawls...I need a lesson on how to put mine on. I have never been able to figure out exactly how to tie the two pieces together, etc. This will be a great season to wear them though!

I was at IF today and saw a gorgeous Junya knit--like a cardigan, except the buttons are skewed across the back. I still haven't seen the Junya dress I am after though...need to visit comme again, I guess.

oh and I not am confessing anything, but I may have gone to a certain other store on Grand St., and I may have put something else on hold there...:innocent:
