Personal must-haves for F/W 07.08

softie, we must share a part of our brain or something. I've always felt like a bit of mine was missing.

laika...see my post above...:p
(didnt' realize yours was grey-ooops!...too similar then-agree)

soooooooo...
what do yo have on hold at YY????????....:woot:...
:hardhead:...

*edit*...
so that's where the other part is!!.........

thanks laika! that junya knit sounds really cool! I haven't tried that particular pair of Athe pants, but the problem I've had with the fitted Athe pants is that the hip/waist are cut too boxy. So if they fit my hips, the waist is way too big. And the pockets often don't sit very flat, adding additional bulk to the hip area, which I don't like.

my athe pants all sit way low on my hips...well- all two of them...:p
but they are my best pants for some time ...along with some marnis
maybe you are wearing them too high?...
:flower:

i confess...

i took apart my tao shawl to use for a photoshoot...

and i am having trouble putting it back together...:ninja:...

and laika can post hers as well so we can see if it is the same or a different variation on the theme...

^_^...

you made me crack up.

yes, a thread on...how do I wear this? or better yet...who can figure this garment out?

I had a heck of time with the junya sleeveless jacket I tried, I'm still not sure I had it right, it was so wacky I got frustrated and sent it back. thankfully, the dress seems like it won't take so much brain power to put on.

laika, you have the coat on hold don't you? fess up. :innocent:

^ Y'all totally crack me up

"Comme de Garcons customer support--how may we help you put your clothes back together?"

I didn't realize the shawls were so complicated ... I guess you couldn't see the detail on the runway, or I didn't look at enough pix ... Definitely a thread ;)

Thanks, laika :flower: I can hear your confession now, my child ^_^

soooooooo...
what do yo have on hold at YY????????....:woot:...

I'll give you a hint...it's black. :shifty:

It's not a coat though, lucky....i will be back with more information later.

crap, I was hoping you (softgrey) would know exactly how the shawl works. Between the armhole, the buttons and ties, I am utterly bewildered. That thread is probably a good idea...as is ta-ta's comme customer care hotline!

tourist, thanks for the review. That is exactly my problem with her pants too, and also with Isabel Marant's. These might be different, since they are skinny...I will let you know if I decide to try them. :flower:

ok- i was thinking we start the thread in DIY ...subset of personal style..
gotta take some pics first...

:flower:...

ta-ta...
i'll try to pull some runway pics for the thread as well...
that should help...
but they all start to look the same and it's confusing...
...

i had it right for awhile...
and it looked really good...
but i just can't remember how i had it exactly...
:ermm:...

believe me...it's a project......

laika...TEASE!!!!!!!...
:hardhead:...

Tha Tao shawl (from f/w 07, no?) sounds fascinating. Is there only one certain way to wear it or can one wear it as they see fit? Who knew it had so much drama going on... an extra sleeve!?! A cloth rubik's cube. I want one! ^_^

numerous ways....
which only complicates matters...
:p

Ahhh but the complication is the best pt.! Everytime you wear it, it'll seem like a new piece.

I am interested to see how both you and Laika style it! Pictures, plz. :woot:

tourist you look so fabulous in that sari cardigan...
you have gorgeous style...
i would love to wrap myself up in that outfit..

i wish these clothes were available here in aus..
although i dont know that i could afford them...
:ermm:...

luckyme you really crack me up...
"who can figure this garment out..."
i love it!!......

wiw, many pieces come in purple this fall at sacai.

softgrey, margiela has black leather fingerless glove almost like a tube with a thumb hole.
also these yohji gloves below are already available though they looked thin and unpractical like the vanessabruno's.
but there will be black leather version of them coming soon. it should be simple and cool from the normal length style already in stores.

if you like something interesting and unique, ccp did object-tanning ones. the smallest size 46, but the leather is somewhat shrunken.
you can think of them as the sleeve of this jacket.

^ Thanks, runner! ^_^

I would love to look at and possibly purchase Sacai pieces but it is an impossible feat in my area, unfortunately.

The Yohji gloves are cool. One could always add a contrasting, shorter pr. for more warmth, maybe...? Perhaps a charcoal grey made of a different fabric? Sounds cool in theory....

It looks like someone is already living in it . . .

Agreed. :ninja:

Is that the infamous gloved leather jacket, runner? It's quite something.

On the topic of gloves, I saw some adorable short grey patent ones at Takashimaya.

hee hee...the jacket has thumbs!......
that is so cute!...

thanks runner...
i got these fingerless gloves...
vera wang...kohls.com

*so maybe just some leather ones now..
i'll look for the yohji's...those are probably lovely...

my friends and i also have the idea to make some fingerless gloves from army socks...sounds like they would be a lot like the margiela gloves...
with just a hole for the thumb...
i've done this before-it's really easy and looks super cool...
:p

Future buys:

-Wrinkled Junya Watanabe jacket from S/S08, not set on colour, might be checkered, light grey or the usual black

-Another pair of slim black pants, probably by Carol Christian Poell, I might also feel wilder and get a pair of low-crotch Label Under Construction pants.

-An ornate silver ring. I should scour for antiques or maybe get an Ugo Cacciatori or Shaun Lean one.

-New plain white tees and v-necks (I've found an interesting source, I'll see in a few weeks).

That's pretty much it although since I don't really have holes in my wardrobe I might just pick any design that takes my breath away. I'm really feeling Lanvin sportscoats and tuxedos right now but I don't really need new ones and already got what I really liked from the label (my favourite item=the wrinkled tuxedo jackets).

So I now have:

-New black pants (Carol Christian Poell x-stitch)
-A bunch of new white tees (mainly Uniqlo)
-I couldn't find a ring I wanted at Atelier but got this instead (+ other goodies not in the list and that are just extras for my wardrobe):

I had never heard of the designer before, so if anyone can provide some information, I'd appreciate it.

I'm still looking for a ring and wanted to add a long blazer to the list. I tried on a few (this idea started about a year ago) but haven't found anything conclusive yet. I want tempted by the synthetic looking (100% wool, Rei knows how to choose/tweak her fabrics) CdG grey tight one but opted to pass as the medium was a tight fit in the chest. For reference I'm usually a 36/46 or even 44 in say this season's Balenciaga (yeah I know, it used to be ultra tight).
