Personal must-haves for F/W 07.08

That is gorgeous, Fuuma! Is it a bracelet? Who is the designer?

I'm not sure about the long blazer....I bet runner will have some suggestions though. :p

Its a leather string bracelet made by Gregg Wolf, you basically wrap it a couple of times around your wrist and then punch a hole at the right spot (JoJo did it for me). I like it a lot and bought it without being sure I'd wear it.

For long blazers I have tried or am still looking at offerings from:

-Yohji: His cuts don't fit me very well, much to my chagrin. He sometimes add weird ambroidery that I'm not too fond of.
-CdG: A strong contender, the label has been releasing that type of coat for a while. I just haven't found one that fits me perfectly.
-Ann Demeulemeester: Usually too Victorian/equestrian, I want something more modern looking but that manages to make me stay away from looking like a Matrix extra, for obvious reasons.
-Number (N)ine: Often too goth though, I like the cuts more than the construction and designs.
-Rick Owens: a recent suggestions, I'll look into it, not a big fan of his sportscoats
-Carol Christian Poell: He released a grey one that looked interesting, but I've never tried it on and I'm not sure the quarters (bottom part of the jacket) open in the manner I would like them to be (straight as opposed to wide).

when you say long blazer...do you mean a true blazer or more like a mourning coat (3/4 length)...?

it sounds liike you might be talking about the second...
..

the bracelet is pretty...i'd like to see how it looks on the wrist...

Oh to be precise I mean a frock coat; basically a blazer that fully extends to around the knees, where a morning coat would curve backward around the waist, so that the tail is only present at the side and back. Ann D usually makes morning coats and I find those to be to "costume" for my taste while I feel a frock could possibly be worn in a more modern outfit.

When I next post a WAYWT I'll include a shot of the bracelet...BTW I think it would fit a women perfectly, especially considering that it looks fine in my arguably girly wrists.

stop that! :hardhead:
I resisted asking and now you are tempting me to run down to A. :p

I think that bracelet is perfectly unisex too, Fuuma! Such a great mixture of strength and tenderness. :crush:

The talk of morning coats reminds me of a project I have yet to realize - slightly Yohji, a little Dries 05... must track down grey-ish rosettes which is going to be a job in itself.

ok- that is what i thought you meant fuuma...

once upon a time i would have said helmut lang, jil sander or prada...:(
does raf have anything?

I hadn't asked the price when I decided to get it and was expecting to cringe but it is surprisingly reasonnable at $225. The designer is from NYC, which might help.

Softgrey: A vintage HL would also be among my top choices but I doubt I'll manage to find one.

there is one on sale on NAP
Is it what you are looking for?

^see, Fuuma, the bracelet is confusing people...you better hand it over...:p

I ordered a "military" green Chloe mini skirt from yoox....I was looking for something more drab and army (almost cargo look) but I haven't had any luck.

we'll see how it goes.

wiw, what is your area?

dentrobatidae, it was actually tanned on a dummy after it had been all sewn.
so yes it is already three-dimentional to some extent before it is worn.

laika, yes it's the glove sleeve cordovan jacket with kangaroo elbow joints.
but there is normal sleeve version too.

softgrey, cozy-looking vera wang gloves.
so I too may want to try that idea!

I am located in Florida aka the black hole of fashion, Runner.

Laika, great skirt! A bit 'prim' but I'm sure you could toughen it up a bit.

Oh dear....poor wiw! :o

That's exactly my issue with the skirt, but it's cotton twill, so maybe I can beat it up a little....it's the first thing I've found that's remotely close to what I am imagining.

Thanks Runner! You're always a bright light. Will have to pay a visit to this shop the next time I venture into South Beach. Exciting! :p

Ohh Laika, Miami truly is daunting, rly. Though the lack of endless options fosters creativity and an earnest appreciation for those gems I do stumble upon unexpectedly. What type of fabric is the skirt? You could definitely beat it up a bit. Maybe soaking it in tea will make for a drab effect?

aris- i think fuuma is a boy...;)...

fuuma- agreed...vintage Helmut would be killer...
i adore that sort of coat on a man..very sexy...:brows:...
but i think it's best if you are slender and/or taller...
otherwise it risks becoming boxy and 'dumpy'..imo..
good luck with the search...
:p

laika- cute skirt...i think that will look very cute...:flower:

softgrey I like those gloves a lot. I can't wait to see them in action

fuuma That bracelet is cool. I think it suits your style (from what I can tell) really well!

laika The skirt is cute! You'll need a midnight navy sweater next

:woot: You totally read my mind. I actually saw this skirt (or at least a very similar one) in person but it's sooooo short...a bit inpractical at full price. I do want a navy or midnight blue sweater so much...maybe something TSE at sale time.
