However, body piercings are so common at my school you'd think it was a requirement.

This made me laugh...

My dad would say no facial piercings-including tongue-because very few employers like them, face it.

By the way, isn't tongue piercing something you get rid of once there comes the time in your life when you're about to get employed for something serious ?? Actually, I would apply it to all kinds of piercings that appear on visible parts of your body... As much as I love mine, I don't think that I will have them forever.


Overall, I like piercings in general, but each particular case in different... The thing that I do not like is when something that was meant to be edgy in the first place gets so overly popular that it become a mass culture. I don't have anything against mass culture or any of its elements in general, it's interesting in it's own way, but when it's something that used to be edgy shortly before... It just looks kinda... hmm... donno...bad taste, maybe ? Ironically, something that has never been anything but an element of mass-culture stands at a much lesser risk of making such impression.

And, yeah, as you rightly pointed out, the health-related issues must be the first thing to be taken into consideration and taken care of.

I like ear piercings and that's about it. I kinda wanna get my nipple pierced (friend of mind did it) but after she explained what happened after it, the sexiness factor goes right out the window.

i have 2 piercings in each ear and got my bellybutton, eyebrow and nasal septum (middle part of the nose) pierced i aint no punk girl but i just sort of like the pain when the needle breaks through my skin. yeah i'm masochistic in a way

I have three in each ear, left top ear cartilage, navel, and I just got my nose pierced 4 days ago! It's really cute and it's so small you really have to get really close in my face to see it. My Mom freaked out tho.... I think piercings and just body art/modification in general are beautiful, but I do agree in situations like the professional workplace there are certain piercings that should be removed. Surface piercings FREAK ME OUT tho. *shudders*

anyone has NIPPLE piercings...?
my friend is gonna get it in 3 days... and i'm trying to get her out of it... what do you guys think? yes or no?

i'm going with her... gosh can't imagine the pain... i'm so gonna scream (maybe even louder than her) eeeeeeeeek!

and as for the pain i found that my cartlidge piercing at the top of my ear hurt more... the clamping is worse than the actual piercing and of course the anticipation always makes things seem worse

I had my belly button done about a year and a half ago, I didn't even feel it when it was done, and I cleaned it religiously every day....looked great with a little bar, but after about 6 months my body started to reject it and it got closer and closer to the surface until one night while I was asleep it just popped out!

Found it in the bed in the morning, still closed, and my belly just had a tiny dent in it where the skin had grown underneath the bar and got thinner on top. There isn't even a scar there now...I do miss it but it'd probably do the same thing again

i think her boyfriend's more against it than i am! lol but yeah i agree i'll let her do whatever she wants ... she got cartlidge piercingS so i guess she can stand the pain... she didn't even scream when she got hers... i was ... hehehe...

I have my lip pierced.

I think it's pretty sad that in our society looking different, be it hair color,clothing or piercings, is unacceptable. You are judged immediately. I remember having a talk with my music appreciation teacher's twin brother; he said 'When are you going to take that thing out? When you go to a job interview?'. It just upsets me that the way I look affects my future. You may be a very nice har working person, but say you have purple hair, then that doesn't matter. It just makes me sick that we can't move past apperances. I'm not saying that I don't judge people. But when we're talking on a proffesional level, say for an interview, people should try to not judge someone on their apperance.

Also, I realize that because of the way people are, I may have to take out my lip piercing, regardless of how much I love it.

I went through all that piercing faze in the early to mid 90's....I got my tongue and my lower lip pierced. Including six on each of my ears....LOL...After college I was going for job interviews I figured it was time I let go of my piercings.....It wasn't very attractive...especially in the job field that I was going into and the company that I wanted to work for in Graphic Design.....

I also had the many piercings stage - tongue,lip, eyebrow, nose, 2 many in ears to mention and only took them out due to work.
(But still have most of the ones in my ears.)
but people with pirecings definately are sterotyped because from when i had lots of piercings to now when i have only a few i was exactly the same person but people definately viewed me differently. It wasn't a rebellious period for me and i would still have those piercings if i wasn't a teacher as it was the feeling i got from getting pierced is why i loved it so.

But all that aside I believe it depends on the person's personality which either makes the piercing attractive or ugly. And little nose piercings are always cute and have a bit of an exotic look to them.

I had the obligatory bust-ups with my parents over not letting me get my ears pierced a second (and third, fouth and fifth) time, but now i'm kinda glad they didn't let me cause i know i would have taken it to the extreme. But i do have a few discreet ones they may never find out about

I had a belly, nose, and lots of piercings in my ears.

At the moment I still have my nipples, tragus, and lip pierced, and also two in my tongue.

Althoug I love them, i prefer not to have too much iron in my face, where you can see them. Just a little ring in my lip will do.

I just have a question... Is there a major different between a 14 gauge and a 16 gauge captive bead ring? I am getting my septum done and the girl told me they only pierce with 14 gauge or less, they don't do 16 gauge.....

Is it normal...? And is 14 gauge too big...?

Example, model Tasha Tilberg... Her ring the right size for me... but is it 14 gauge or 16 gauge she's wearing?

I'm not huge on piercings, but I do have my ears pierced - twice in each earlobe. I might get the cartlidge at the top of my right ear pierced, but I haven't decided yet. I love earrings.
