Porter #28 Fall 2018 : Lupita Nyong'o by Mario Sorrenti

She’s become the new Halle Berry as in the only black actress to consistently get fashion covers until a new one comes along.

I agree, Angela Bassett or even Viola Davis are worthy of a fashion cover.

Spotted this in the shops.

Inside editorials with Hana Jirickova, Vivien Solari, an article on Donatella with an accompanying editorials with two models I didn’t recognise and an article on Arizona Muse.

This is gorgeous! I think a big part of why I typically love Sorrenti’s photography is that he’s able to mix outdoor and studio shots and it’s not boring or disconnected, in my opinion anyways.

Lupita is such a gorgeous, formidable woman and Mario has captured her so beautifully! What a match made in heaven!

Lupita is beautiful and photographs like a dream.
Always love seeing her on covers.
She delivers.

Red is always an eye-catching colour for a cover shot, but what really caught my eye was a sultry (if short) beauty editorial near the back of this issue.

I resisted buying it, though. I have too much to read already - and you have no idea how many years it's taken to reach the point where I don't compulsively purchase a magazine.

Porter is a strange magazine - it's very beautifully shot, but it can often feel utterly boring, in keeping with the catalogue it's designed to be. Yet there are moments when the content strikes the same note as Vogue Paris, a sense of expensive glamour, an effortless existence that's above and beyond the daily grind.

This issue seems such an odd mix. Cover edit is a fresh take on Lupita (especially the b&w shot of her in the black piece), so is Giedre's. Then you have Aya Jones just standing around looking bored and awkward. Of course rounded out by their usual Vogue Paris-lite dark edit of the month.

Lupita's portrait with the cacti and the one in which she's sitting with her legs crossed remind me of a couple portraits of Frida Kahlo. Very boring issue to be honest, it feels very run of the mill and plain forgettable.
