Prada for H&M?

VERY SAD

I apologize for the vagueness of my comment. What I meant was that Prada, much like Gucci, is one of those labels that is constantly being used in the lyrics of songs, particularly rap. While I do not necessarily dislike rap, the unfortunate truth of the matter is that often times people associate rap with crime and people of lower social status. By having labels such as Prada being used by people who are stereotyped as being gangsters, drug dealers, etc., it detracts from the high status of the label. And my main argument was that due to the constant mentioning of Prada within a musical genre often times looked down upon, working with H&M would only further detract from the high status and exclusivity of the Prada label.

 regarding the article, I thought that it may be new its dated for the April 26th Issue, but I dont really know the exact date the interview was taken :(

i thought that it was just a rumour, and now she's doing her bespoke dress line she was going to be concentrating on that instead? being a student i'm more excited by the idea of prada h&m stuff than yet more stuff i can't afford, so hope i'm wrong about this!

Yea I would love to see her collab, but im not sure...i think she might not too myself. I doubt she needs the $$$ she's already a billionaire. Oh well

I guess it seems as though Miuccia Prada is now against doing a collaboration with H&M... Read this in an interview after the Prada skirt event in Soho.

What about all these rumors about your working with H&M?
They’ve asked me. I always said no, not because I don’t like the idea, I just don’t like the idea of doing bad copies of what I’m doing. And I don’t have the time, and maybe even the ability, to do a collection with them. If you want to do a collection that costs less, you have to do it with different materials and different ideas.

Why do other people do it?
I don’t know. Because of course they’re attracted by the fame you can get. Just because you want to do something new that people talk about. I don’t know how much real interest there is in doing fashion that is not expensive but is creative.

Of course I would love to be able to buy Prada, but like Miuccia said: "I just don’t like the idea of doing bad copies of what I’m doing". The quality wouldn't be amazing, they would just be copies.

I do see the point she has. But I would still love to see this happen.

I'm glad they're opening 3 H&Ms in the LA area. Now I can finally know what the big fuss is all about.

:o whoa, really? thats going to be great! i've never been to h&m but everyone makes a big deal about it so i suppose it has some kinda value, lol.

^ I think you'll find that the novelty wears off really quick...

It seems like a good idea, but then again thinking about the cheap materials they would use, it'd also be a bad idea.

Haha, we had the same topic at lime-light a couple of months ago. This is what I said:

"Personally, I don't think the Karl Lagerfeld line at H&M is very distinctive. The purpose of couture is to have high-end concepts meeting high-end quality, and with the quality being sacrificed because of the cost of production and the concepts being sacrificed because of marketability, the fashion ends up being blasé. I think if H&M wants to truly get a more high-end line at bargain prices, they need to seek out someone who's more about functional distinction -- I'm thinking more along the lines of prints like Pucci or Versace (case in point: Luella at Target). I don't see Prada contributing much to the H&M palette beyond what they already have. Prada has been so structural lately, that I don't see it working."

i know....i rmember the madness when the first one in my general are opened...then they start sprouting up like mushrooms...and it's just lost...:innocent:

Yep, there is going to be one at the Beverly Center, Hollywood and Highland and Old Town Pasadena. The Beverly Center one is apparently going to the largest store. And I think they're opening up in the fall.

I'm finding with the ones in the DC area, the men's section keeps getting smaller and smaller.

There used to be a pretty decent one in Georgetown. I went in recently and the men's section had been slimmed down to one rack.

I don't really find much in there anymore anyways.

I didn't know that; that's great news! Now all we need is a Topshop.

Jesus, Mary and Martha!!!

i dont think Mrs. Miuccia can even begin to complain considering that Lil Kim rappin about her Prada bag or a Crunk king rapping about buyin his girl that Prada dress have helped her products fly off the shelves in a very big way! Exclusivity may be good for a label, but selling those clothes is what really matters. Remember this isnt couture where one dress costs as much as 10 RTW dresses!
