A third-place finisher on "Project Runway" has emerged as a first-place winner in an on-line auction of outfits seen on the series.
In the auction, which ended last night on projectrunway.com, a gown designed by contestant Laura Bennett fetched the top price of any garment featured in Season Three - $4,500 for a shimmering, floor-length gown.
The dress was one of 12 garments she designed for the final runway show in Bryant Park. Bennett, 43, of Manhattan, was the contestant who clashed in the show's final episodes with tattooed L.A. designer Jeffrey Sebelia, 36, who was revealed last week as the winner of Season Three.
His highest-priced creation - a striped dress with a complex array of zippers - sold for $2,900.
That was less than the highest-priced piece made by second-place finisher Uli Herzner, 35, of Miami Beach, whose silvery mini-dress sold for $3,425.
The other "Runway" finalist - Michael Knight, 28, of Atlanta - attracted a high bid of $1,325 for an exotic black and gold gown.
