Riccardo Tisci - Designer

Stylist B. Åkerlund snapped this behind-the-scenes image of Madonna’s headpiece worn last night at the Super Bowl, by Philip Treacy from a design by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Haute Couture. She also tweeted this beautiful image of the back of Madonna’s coat, which she says took twenty ladies days and days to bead around the clock.

all that hard work, solely for 10 minutes...

then again, it's some kind of exposure for Givenchy

Tbh, I don't like these looks on Madonna at all. The sketches are obviously amazing, but the overall effect it had onstage was very cheap looking to me. I would've never guessed this was the real Givenchy, but more so a bad interpretation.

agreed. The sketches certainly look more 'haute', but in reality she had to move and dance in them. If they were Mega high and tight they would probably be too restrictive...

The dress is really god but didnt look so good on the performance.
The cape was gorgeus i loved it.
But the jacket, i find it heavy and unispiring.

You know what i think it is about Madonna's outfit that really down grades it ?... that hideous belt... thing! the cape and the coat look great but i think its the conditions of the stadium why we can't fully appreciate them (i.e. lighting and distance to fully appreciate the detail ect).

Here's the video of her full performance (in HD).

Christina Ricci is such a random choice for a custom couture dress.

Why? Christina is one of the few risk takers in Hollywood when it comes to fashion. She's got a hot little body that could pull of many different looks, even with her small frame. She wore Zac Posen beautifully with poise at the MET, a dress that is very difficult to make look decent.

^ And she had already worn this (imo) amazing givenchy costum made gown at the met ball (the superheroes one)

^ I dunno, i think Ms Ricci is a good match for Givenchy. She always does dark films so has that 'rooney mara' thing. She's talented and looks great, but she isnt mainstream and obvious - she is quite kooky.

Nina Ricci oozes with Tisci's aesthetic. She even played Wednesday in the Adam's Family damn it!

Ah, I always loved that pink Givenchy dress, it's one of my all-time favourite, not to mention Christina always pulls off Riccardo's creations in the most amazing way.

I also don't see how people like Ciara would fit Givenchy better than christina that, as mentioned, has been in so many movies / played characters / is identified with a certain imagery that goes so well with riccardo's 'style' (or at least most of his earlier collections at the house)

Why not Ciara?

LOL Squizree.

I really do like Christina Ricci in Givenchy, botched botox and all That custom Givenchy gown she wore to the MET Gala was outstanding, not to mention very relevant to the theme that year. The gown she wore to the BAFTAs was also very lovely. Looked even better on TV. She (or her stylist) is good at picking clothes that her make her appear even taller than she is.

It is quite funny, though, has he ever made custom dresses for his other ladies?

Uma Thurman? Mariacarla Boscono? Not sure. Ciara? I think Liv Tyler wore a custom made gown to the Vanity Fair party last year, but not sure about anything else.

^I believe he did a custom for Alicia Keys... does she count ?

Lara's 2 looks for her Wedding obviously... off the top of my head i can't recall anyone else.

Liv Tyler wore one at the MET last year (from s/s 11 HC, it had the swan applications up to the breasts whereas the runway piece revealed the breasts)
