RIP Alexander McQueen CBE : 1969 - 2010

im so shocked at this, he had so much going for him in the world of fashion. I was looking forward to seeing much more of his creative designes in the future years. R.I.P. McQueen, you will sorely be missed!

Just heard from a well-placed source that Alexander McQueen's Fall 2010 collection was basically finished before his tragic death on Thursday — the design team completed final fittings last week. No one seems to know, however, what will be done with the collection.

Also party-hosting within the multi-space Milk location were LnA's Lauren Alexander and April Leight. The L.A.-based designers celebrated their first-ever New York show with a crowd that included Heidi Mount, Ally Hilfiger, and Genevieve Jones. Late night, the suddenly ubiquitous Patti Smith took the stage for a set that included crowd favorite "Because the Night" and a song she dedicated to Alexander McQueen. She left the crowd with this: "If we have lost loved ones, the best way to cope is to celebrate life."

I'm still so torn up about this.. I can't get him out of my mind, it's just heartbreaking that it had to be him..

I'm still hoping to wake up from this bloody NIGHTMARE!!

So what would happen to the house next? any news on that yet?
I can't imagine who would/could replace his work, maybe Galliano but there's going to be lots of adjustment.

From what it sounds like, the line is dead. But I heard some very interesting information from someone at the Las Vegas McQueen store today...

Thank you for sharing your perspective with the world and inspiring generations. May the creative chasm left be filled by that same inspiration in time.

Thoughts and best wishes are with everyone affected by this tragedy

Squizree - It's definitely hope. But there's a chance Gucci Group might not be willing to give the brand over to an assistant. She sounds like a really good choice though.

^Im not sure replacing him is such a good idea though, because he's simply irreplacable.

My BIGGEST fear is the label turning into another Emanuel Ungaro/Halston/Nina Ricci. But an assistant thats been with him since college sounds promising though.

I started a thread for it HERE.

Literally, left for Paris early Thursday morning and arrived about midday, one of my friends knocks on my door and announces it to me stood in the corridor. Literally, a shiver down my spine. I could have burst into tears at any second while watching those bulletins on the news.
Just absolute shock. Rest in peace.
