Rodarte for Target

Rodarte for Target ad

Hate the ad. I see no connection between the clothes and the setting besides the leopard but that's a bit cliche.

^ I agree!

Rodarte is soooo not about pretty fields and sunsets. It's grungy and dark. I would've liked for the ads to be dark and mysterious. I think they'd be more effective.

As for the collection, I really want the asymmetrical cardigan and the denim jacket. They're pure . Gorg and affordable.

but i don't think that would have ever worked for this highly commercial platform. even when libertine did their line, they had to sort of soften their usually darker overtones when it was being promoted. and as you can see, even rodarte designing this line,it's so far beyond what they actually do in their signature.

i must say,at least it's better than than the clichéd "cocktail party/holiday" themes.

so not fair! i want some NOW!!!

that ad reminds me of the ones chloe ran a few seasons ago. i agree, it looks off....almost too very wang for khols ....i would have prefered to see the clothes in some future Armageddon destroyed city or at least maybe a vintage lil parisian street...

i agree on this -- but I sort of wish they'd preserved a bit more of their look/signature in the line... to me it doesn't look/feel like rodarte at ALL and I really think they could have kept a bit more to themselves and been commercial... though I suppose an awful lot of that has to do with restrictions imposed by target + is one of the things a designer deals with in a collab like this.... but why not some chunky open-knit sweaters, or a faux-leather jacket with rad details, or a dress in similar shapes as their recent lines with some minor gauze/bead/patch detailing? why no simple black cardigan sweater with faux fur or sequins on the shoulders or collar? why no basic tees with the asymmetrical necklines of FW09? why not mimic that gorgeous asymmetrical gathering common in so many of their dresses with just one cheaper fabric, or even with a print?

I guess I see some references to their 08 collections here in the sheer cardigans and wide skirts, and I guess the ribcage dress and black tulle overlay looks a lot like SS09 (here), but just... meh. why did we have to go for leopard print dresses and denim jackets? sigh.

^i agree....i do wish they had done more distinctly rodarte items. and i know it's obviously difficult to convey that sort of dynamism in this medium but their knits particularly could have definitely been replicated in a commercial vein. rather than the silk wools they use they could have used say acrylic.

it's so weird how some people are able to buy items from the collections while others have to wait for weeks to get their hands on it...I mean it seems a bit unfair..:ninja:

Right, exactly, and kept them more basic with some simple details along the edges or like one simple panel of a different texture or something....I have a few pieces from the Rogan for Target line a few years back, and they're pretty Rogan-y and rather adventurous, but that's precisely it, the fabric is a bit scratchy and thin.

Even the dresses like this:

could be simplified and recreated in some kind of jersey knit. same deal with the shield-type dresses in a tweed or heavier cotton. sigh. oh well.

i really wasnt expecting anything out of left-field in this collection.

the items that rodarte created for the gap were boring IMO.

gossiping, you should try to put one of the anna sui for target items in your cart at amazon.com and see how much shipping they might charge you. :flower:

nevermind, items of clothing can't be shipped to the uk from amazon.com.

looks like it's the ridiculous ebay prices for me then :(

no, only shoes apparently :( i typed in my address and it would not process.
