Rodarte for Target

I ordered the blue swiss dot dress and the black tulle dress with bows online. I wasn't really intending to buy them, but I was browsing through the collection and everything was still in stock.

I got a a 7 in the blue dress and a M in the black one. But now I'm worried, since I just read somewhere that the sizing runs small. I'm usually a 6 in dresses.

To those who got the same dresses, what do you think?

The black tulle dress I tried on was a M, and it was a bit loose on me. I'm usually sizes 2-4 in designer.

i went to the bigger of 2 local targets first and saw that there was a huge load of swimwear and t-shirts but not many dresses (i had my eye on the tulle dress & blue polkadot dress) so i just grabbed the black lingerie-esque bathingsuit in medium.

the sizing for this line was really confusing. i went to the smaller target in my area and saw that they had a larger selection but they were usually TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL. i just decided to grab whatever i liked regardless of the size and try them on to at least get a feel of what it looked like one me/how the sizes ran. i planned on buying what i really wanted online. there was only one blue polka dot dress left and it was a size 13 which is normally hugee on me. but when i wore it, i felt like i only needed to go 1 or 2 sizes down. after that, i looked at the black tulle dress in xs (it was the only one left~) and thought there was no wayy i could fit into it. but it ended up fitting pretty well and i went ahead and bought it since it was the last one and my sister informed me via cellphone that it was soldout online. i tried the halter dress in a size 3 which is what i thought i would be? but it was too small? haha but from what i could get on me, it was surprisingly nice. not really soomething i would wear, but i ended up really liking the neck tie. i got the mustard cardigan for my mom which looked great and was pretty true to size.

when i brought my huge bundle of clothes to try on the employee laughed and said "ahh you found our special collection" -_- i remarked on how fast things must have sold out and she told me a lot of people called in the night before asking if it would be in stock. sigh. i didn't think these employees had a clue about the collection cuz if i did, i would have called yesterday and been there at 8am today.

but overall, im really happy i got my hands on them and im pretty satisfied with my purchases. really wish i saw the leopard coat, belts, or tights though

That's funny, at my Target I seemed to be the only one even remotely interested in the collection. I picked up the lace print dress and the striped shirt. The blue dress was really cute, but incredibly itchy, and that was only wearing it for a few minutes in the dressing room. I couldn't imagine wearing it for any significant length of time.

Me too! I was so excited all the way to target but didn't end up buying anything at all. The beige bow dress is really cute and I may go back to try it on, but I really wanted the ribcage dress. (they didn't get any in at the store I went to)
Most of the collection seems to be made out of a weird and unpleasant feeling fabric :( it's rough and itchy feeling.

I am usually a 4 or 6 in dresses . . . depending on the silhouette. I tried on the blue swiss dot in store and the 5 was a better fit for me than the 7. I am a bit smaller on top so with the full skirt, the smaller size worked better. As far as the bow dress, I couldn't find a S to try on. The M was too big and looked awkward and the XS was most definitely too small. I ordered both S and M online so will be returning the M most likely.

does anyone have the ribcage dress? how is the sizing? has anyone seen it in stores?? i need it in medium or large if anyone sees it i will pay you!!

I saw it in store and didn't even bother trying it on . . . it looked too cheap. All polyester and only sequined in the front. Not worth it in my opinion.

It's called polyester . Yeah, not so great. Remembering fondly all the silk in the Proenza Schouler for Target collection.

my local target put the rodarte items out today! the sales staff were remarking that it was selling very quickly....i saw the knee-highs but no belt. neither did i see the skeleton dress or the leopard coat.

even with a big snowstorm over night there were still plenty of women crowding the racks. i ended up getting the black tulle dress in M, the saffron skirt in 7, black camisole in M, the peach and black dress in M and the cardigans in saffron and black.

The target where I live had all the items which I thought was surprising since we aren't a big city. They had tons of sweaters, the leopard print jacket and accessories. Only downside is that all dresses they only had one of each size for each dress.

The black tulle dress with bows was better looking on than on the rack. The size on it is kind of weird. I'm a size 7 dress and I had to get a medium since the top part was just too big on the large. I didn't get anything else mostly because of christmas budget

I got the gold tulle slip and I :heart::heart: it. I originally wanted it in black for flexibility but they only had XL, L, and M left. There was three of the gold, one of which was XS that fits me perfectly. There were two racks full of the nudes! And maybe about FOUR racks full of the skeleton dress (I got there at about 12:30 pm..)

The color of this dress is SO nice, but ahh the black...more flexible, closer to my style, and it makes the weird cups on this thing less noticable (it's easy to get over, but they are pretty damn AWKWARD or I'm just too flat)
I don't remember the deal w/ past Target collabs..is there any chance of them restocking anything in the future? Or is this the first and final round and I have no hope of trying on a black XS in store?

redhotfuss & *tmsta*, i got the rib cage dress at the target pop-up shop in san francisco a few weeks ago...here is my post with my modeling pic...
the target near me in san bruno had them in store yesterday, but i never saw them online today...

One thing I've noticed about this collection is how different things look in pictures versus how they look/feel in reality. I thought the ribcage dress looked awesome online, and in store it looked terrible. On the other hand, the leopard print sequin dress looked awful online, but in store it looked great. I tried it on even though it is definitely not my style. I would have bought it if I thought I might ever wear it.

Did anyone buy the two bows on the shoulder dress in another color than black???

I guess it's always going to be like that..I remember when I saw one of the Kate Moss collections online I thought everything looked amazing, but IRL it wasn't that amazing and I didn't buy anything:innocent:

The Target near where I live (Gaithersburg, MD) had mostly everything, all the dresses were present in plentiful supply. I did a write-up with pictures:

But here were my specific impressions:

- Halter dresses looked great and were comfortable. The floral pink version was especially cute.

- I usually wear 2-4 and the 3 usually fits fine. In fact, I thought everything was more or less true to size. I'm narrow up top, so that part wasn't an issue with fit.

- Someone mentioned that the leopard bow dress fit awkwardly. I concur, too large in the waist and too narrow in the wrist. Problem could be solved with a waist belt, but then I felt the price wasn't justified. Material was thinner and scratchier than it looks, but the leopard + lace texture/pattern play provided a great multidimensional effect. Made the fabric thicker and more luxurious looking than it was.

- Ribcage dress totally cheap looking. Ribs looked like they were painted on sloppily with acrylic paint.

- Skirts: Liked the asymmetrical overlay of tulle, but wished they were more voluminous like the bottom portions of the dresses. Also, they give the awkward sitting-uncomfortably-on-hipbone effect.

- Bow belt: seemed more like a clip on bow tie than a belt. Very unsturdy.

- Random t-shirt things cheap looking and feeling.

- Bought the mesh slip dress and lace cardigan, both in nude. The skirt portion of the dress is very static-y, but I loved the tulle overlay. The bows were done better and had a higher quality than I had expected. My skin is a little yellow-y toned, so I didn't look naked. I loved how all the sheer things were so.. sheer. Like nothing's there!

Oh all right. I'm a bit less worried now, since the sizes I got seem right. I'm actually fuller on top, so I think the 7 will fit me better. As for the bow the dress, well I'd rather it was bigger since I can just have it altered. Thank you demerise! ^_^

The prices at ebay are discusting! I can't believe it!!!!! I feel so sorry for people who wants some of the pieces from this collection and have to buy them from ebay..

I was having a browse this morning on ebay and was shocked by how many rib-cage dresses there are. The only two pieces that I was sort of interested in, the nude cardigan and nude dress, I did find at very reasonable prices. But I doubt I'll get either since I am worried about sizing.

There is a seller who has some dresses in the UK in case anyone from the UK is looking...they are £40 with no bids, BIN £60 and p&p is only £4 which I guess would work out if you got it for £40 +p/p at the same price as getting from the US.. :flower:

How is the sizing of the nude bow dress? I can see that the UK based seller only has the dress in S and M and I'm usually a sz XS.
