thanks so much lucy and sun! better than the average $139-159 price point on others collections. im hoping this allows for a bit more quality in materials to be used on the lower price pieces.

while i'm glad that this collection is inexpensive how cool would it have been if they had done a leather biker jacket? the one in their main collection was amazing this season.

^ I was wondering why they didn't do a leather jacket. That denim jacket seems out of place in a Rodarte collection.

not to mention some of their more signature abstract knits.

personally i have to agree with softie on this. it's juvenile...more than anything. i think if they had brought some of their other elements in,it would speak volumes as they do have this great way of conveying a sense of exuberance without being overly saccharine.

a slightly clearer image of the denim jacket from elle's website.

^ Thanks for the scans.

Ugh... that denim jacket...

I'm predicting those ballet dresses are going to sell out quickly and end up on Ebay at 2 or 3 times the price.

Honestly though - how many of the girls buying this will become future Rodarte customers? Because Rodarte is not just a designer brand - it has less name recognition than Chanel but with the same (or higher) price tags. So I think it's unlikely a girl will buy a dress from this collection and 5 - 10 years down the line think 'oh Rodarte!' and shell out 2k for a sweater. However, I likewise don't think this collaboration will alienate their current clientele. The collection will have it's own cachet with them as well. I think the girls probably did it for the money and because they thought it would be fun. If it increases their brand awareness, great. If not, nothing lost.

well, honestly i think it helps their brand. rodarte is not logo laden, like chanel for example, and the clientele is more keen on a more edgy underground look. i think it's fantastic move on their part, to bring a lil edginess to the masses...and if they snare a few in their net, then more power to them!

^^ wow, i'm loving the lace dress and the cardigan even more!! Those vogue shots are wonderful. Can't wait to see the quality up close. I think the sisters are making quite a name for themselves. Who knows maybe 10 years from now I'll want something from Rodarte versus a Chanel 2.55.

does anyone know the exact day this line hits the stores? i wanna be there that day at the crack of dawn to get my hands on one of those ballet dresses and that leopard print dress dakota fanning had on in teen vogue...and maybe some other things lol

Dec. 20th (Sunday), although a lot of stores have been known to put stuff out early.

Oh, I hope this collection is supposed to be in all the stores. We have four Target stores in our area and we didn't get McQueen or Anna Sui

I know! That's what I'm worried about since I badly want one...and now I'm also worried that they won't stock this in every store because one of the mags mentioned that it would be available at 'select Targets'. I'm going to have to call all the Targets in my area to see if they'll be stocking the collection.
