adorefaith - I was thinking the same thing, that if you wear a looser pant, the leg needs to taper a bit. This makes sense, since the rolls add a bit of bulk, you'd want the line of the pant to taper a bit to keep a good silhouette. Too bad I don't have any slouchy tapered pants to try it with ...

I agree with that too.^_^
I do have a great pair of slouchy tapered pants that I thought would look good rolled....
but the fabric is a linen blend and a bit flimsy and won't stay rolled.
Does anyone else have this problem and what do you do?...
Just try different pants? Or are there secret tricks? :p

The rolled-up pants look great in Post #41. Only complaint? I greatly dislike those sandals (if you can call them that) the models are wearing in those pictures.

funny...i LOVE those sandals...
actually i want a pair :woot:...
..

brokenenglish-
i think it depends on the pant...
and as you said...on the material...

i have a pair of pale blue linen pants that i rolled up yesterday.....i rolled them twice and they stayed all day without any hassle....i have others that arent that simple though...i think you just have to try and see which materials / cuts work best.... i also think part of the 'look' is having to re-roll them throughout the day....
it's a bit of a pain but it doesnt take too long and it's worth it imo...

the 'stiffer' the material, the more the fold will hold...

i have a pair of slinky dark grey wide-legged trousers that look great when they're rolled up....i spent all day having to constantly fix them though-
annoying.....but if you're not doing too much walking and you dont mind bending down occasionally and fixing it, then that's probably your best option...
...

The shoes used in the TopShop collection faintly resemble a pr. from Alex McQueen's s/s 03 collection.

Great photos - thanks, Adore!

yes- you need some 'tapering'...

if the pant doesn't already have this...
you can create it by 'pinching' the pant leg at the seam ( i prefer the inside seam) and then doing several small tight rolls...
this may also help keep the rolls in place...

*styling trick...;)

I like those sandals very much too:blush:...
esp. the dark brown.
I think they are great for this rolled look.

Thanks adorefaith and softgrey for the tips!!! Very helpful. :flower:

I had the Richard Nicoll in mind when I entered this thread, again :innocent: But you beat me adore, with a landslide

Thanks for the tip soft, could come in handy ^_^

It just hit me though that I have the perfect pair of black pants for this.. they are slightly cigarette shaped, though still loose, and the fabric is just right, so I don't have to re-roll them all the time...

I like it the best when it's small, somewhat tight rolls, It looks a bit more sloppy -

sorry tine....
....:flower:

your black pants sound great...
would love to see them on you ..

^haha, no problemo. ! :p

I'll go take a pic, :innocent:
I just bought a pair of slightly cropped dark grey pants, I think I might try it with those as well..

thanks for the additional images, adorefaith! This really is turning out to be quite the styling trend for spring.

softgrey, great tip! My fiance was telling me how he used to do that with his jeans in the early 90's, I completely forgot about that.

Tinetush - please take a pic! I'd love to see how it looks off the runway. And thanks for the additional pics!
