Rolled pant legs S/S 08

^yeah I've seen it done a lot with jeans where I live as well, though here it's always rolled up to the knees, or to the mid calves, so I really like it when the jeans are only rolled up to the ankles. ^_^

It reminds me of Annie Hall, I don't know why because I don't remember 'her' excactly wearing rolled up pants

max mara's take on this...
definitely not a good look imo..

how NOT to wear this..:p..

It seems like a very hit-or-miss concept, one that could easily look awkward if not done right, but it's lovely when it is. I like the folds to be thick and a little scruffy, as seen at Peter Jensen

True. It's a hit or miss concept.

i've noticed this in the hipster crowd...they're rolling up their skinny jeans and letting a bit of their socks showing (usually with the jazz shoes or the plimsoles)

i think this can be a personal style choice as well as a trend..
some people will always do it because it works for them...

but for sure- it is currently a 'trend'

i have to say...
i am a fan...
here is an example of something i found for fall actually...
it's sort of avant garde i guess...but i think it's super cool...
i just got a pair of vintage calvin klein jeans and i will be attemtping this...

but i have been doing it for some time already...
i guess i never stopped completely since the 80's...
with cropped cargoes or paperbag waist pants...
*it sort of goes along with the paperbag waist...
so it can be narrow trousers or baggy pants....
it can work both ways...it's just a matter of balance...
imo..

were those shoes the Pierre Hardy I think about????:woot::buzz:
I looove them!!

I've been doing this for awhile now....since I saw it last summer on the sartorialist. I'm not sure if someone else has mentioned this but to me there is a bit distinction between a roll and a cuff. I don't like cuffed jeans but i like rolled jeans.

yeah..i agree meg..there is a difference between the rolled and cuffed pants/jeans..
ive seen both look good..although those wide cuffs at maxmara are really terrible haha..

I liked the rolled better....

Adore I noticed you doing this with your jeans in the waywt thread...
looking good!!!

i prefer the rolled too..

aww thanks brokenenglish..
you're sweet..

:winkiss:....

I also adore the Isabel Marant looks. As far as Max Mara goes, I think the cuffs show a rockabilly influence, although that first outfit in the post looks an awful lot like something you might see on Kim Jong-Il or Mao Tse Tung.

This girl has been doint it from time to time, and has posted it in her blog.
I like it

i like the girl's style- i can't understand her blog though; is she swedish? danish?

The examples keep coming! I can't believe how many designers are doing this.

I really like this look. But I think it can make short people (like me) look a bit stocky. To combat that perhaps it should be worn with heels or with pants that are high waisted.
