I think a good trick, if one is shorter (and/or has shorter legs in proportion to one's body), is to wear the same colour shoe as the trouser, and/or a colour that is significantly different to one's skintone. This makes sure that the viewer can clearly see where the leg ends and they can't just assume that the end of the trousers = the end of the legs, as they could if one wore flesh-tone footwear.
Interestingly, this is, obviously, the opposite advice to that which is normally given to flatter bare legs when shortish skirts, or shorts, are worn. This is because a flesh-tone sandal appears to lengthen the leg, but only when more of the leg is visible
