Rolled pant legs S/S 08

i like this look too.
and shinkoyo sister, it is such a cute look with penny loafers!!

^yeah I'm short too, about 5'2 and I do plan on wearing it with some high chunky heels. But I'm going to wear as well since I don't think they make you look that much shorter actually ^_^

i like the girl's style- i can't understand her blog though; is she swedish? danish?
Swedish, :p I don't understand all of it either and I have to take my time to understand some of it...

i am 5'4 and roll my pants / jeans..
i dont find that it makes me look any shorter..
not if you do it with the right pant imo..

:flower:

^^ Of course I meant that I would wear it with flats as well..
(stupid typos )

I think a good trick, if one is shorter (and/or has shorter legs in proportion to one's body), is to wear the same colour shoe as the trouser, and/or a colour that is significantly different to one's skintone. This makes sure that the viewer can clearly see where the leg ends and they can't just assume that the end of the trousers = the end of the legs, as they could if one wore flesh-tone footwear.

Interestingly, this is, obviously, the opposite advice to that which is normally given to flatter bare legs when shortish skirts, or shorts, are worn. This is because a flesh-tone sandal appears to lengthen the leg, but only when more of the leg is visible :)

u know this trend has been like all over japanese magazines before the runway started popularising it!

but i always feel that u need to have a looser size t-shirt or an overlayer jacket or cardigan to have a larger top size dimension feeling. it just don't work with slim fit tees do they?

good tip chloe..thanks..

i also think it helps to have slim ankles..
of course this is not something one can control..
but my ankles are very skinny and for some reason this seems to help..

^ I think you're right, having skinny ankles really does help. I don't have skinny ankles, so that might be why I haven't liked the look on me with flats. But I'd like to try it with a pair of chunky heels.

I really wish we could post pictures from other seasons. The look from Tom Scott s/s 2007 is really good, I need to find a pair of pants like that. I'd love to try that look for spring.

i think this guy has done the rolled pants so well...what do you all think?..
looking at the picture now, i'm starting to realise how inspired i am by the way men dress...
the belt, low slung loose rolled jeans, more layers on top...i have been trying this lately...i love it...

and i love his shoes...i want a pair...:woot:

^ thanks for the picture adore! I also love men's clothing, particularly men's shoes. I'm always looking for a pair of good oxfords for myself

I LOVE the way this women paired her slouchy rolled trousers with socks and sandals (punky-b.com) Btw, her blog is more than inspiring.

If anyone can read French, I believe she's giving some tips on how to make the rolled pants work:

adore, I think a lot of guys wear the rolled pants brilliantly. And I find myself quite inspired by them all ^_^

A few pics I've saved on my computer, not all boys though :innocent:

Edit - Just noticed, isn't that the same guy in the two first pics  ?

tourist and tine...such great inspiration in those pictures...thank you..:woot:

tourist- i love the way the trousers are high waisted and then rolled..
it gives it a real twist....

tine yours are great too..that guy really knows how to work it..
and i love the jazz shoes as well as the boots in the last pic..
i am on the lookout for both actually....a pair of great jazz shoes or at least flat laceup shoes....and a cool ankle boot that can be both a bit feminine and more masculine and strong...i cant figure out if i want one with a heel or flat....

for some reason i find the way the pants are rolled to reveal a bit of ankle and then met by a boot really subtle and sexy....sounds a bit weird...:innocent:
but there's something about that little 'flash' of skin that is really great...

nope i know exactly what you mean-

an almost exotic or oriental kind of masculinity, like a dancer or a martial arts fighter.

i sure wish boys like that existed around where i live, at my age!

- hopefully they'll grow up and grow out of dressing like rubbish...

tinetush - those pictures are really great! my favorite is the blond woman. she manages to make the rolled pants look really crisp (plus, she has amazing hair).

the blonde chick works at ELLE...;)

i don't think that punk-b chick did a very good job of it actually...
she missed the VITAL 'pegging' of the leg...
so it's just all wide and floppy...

she's got some other decent stuff on her site though...^_^...

the rolled-up pant is coming back in style. it was huge in the late 80's. an old boyfriend of mine would do this to his pants often. brings back memories B)

^ hmm, that's interesting, regarding the "pegging." For me, it's a bit hard to tell from that angle if the wideness would be a problem ... and also hard to tell in a still picture, not in motion. I always loved the tom scott look from last Spring that I linked to above, and that is rather non-pegged. But it could work because of the larger rolls? Not sure ... anyway, to the punky-b picture, I mainly thought it was cute the way she paired it with the socks and sandals

Although I like this look, I still think it's rather difficult to do well ... for me anyway. It's like "advanced styling 101"

^ Yes, Tourist, her pairing of the contrasting colored, wooden wedges with the black socks is quite adorable, though larger pants legs rolled can charge into sloppy territory if one isn't careful. Had she minimized the bottom, the overall silhouette of her look would've been much cleaner looking.

All of the men look amazing. As does the icy blonde.

Thanks for the photos Adorefaith, Tinetush, & Tourist! Inspiration overload!
