Rosary Is Not Just A Fashion Item

this stuff is too funny! I am Laughing out Loud. The people who sit next to me think I am a freak.

So basically...They are beads, they aren't blessed, filled with holy powers, or deemed sacred by the Bible.

Good to know there's an all-knowing being on this forum who can tell all the wayward Catholics that their religious symbols are meaningless and stupid. Man, I was just about to convert to Catholicism before I read your post. Thanks for straightening me out.

it IS just material and a stick... but i find it interesting that you chose that particular flag...says something ...doesn't it... ?

Good point, where does it say that Chachka is from the U.S. ?

My point was that they were not deemed by God himself in scripture to be used as sacred items. If that is what you use then OK, but it's not like GOD himself deemed them holy. :P

that's ok...the feeling's entirely mutual... :flower: :woot:

this is going to be my last reply on the topic... but I just think that you should treat them with respect- as a Catholic, I might feel offense if someone was wearing them in a noticable way, but I'm not going to corner you on the street and get mad- and off topic, i'm not for kerry or bush.... i just hope whomever wins can help bring some sense into this nation...

Care to elaborate on your use of 2 smilies? If you can't think of anything to type you may as well not type anything.

I could think of something to type but quite honestly I didn't feel like sinking to your uber-catty level. But my smileys were to say "could you be more stereotypically French hating America?" That's why I rolled my eyes and played innocent.

Besides, I also rolled my eyes at the fact that you threw a totally irrelevent idea into a discussion about religion......how does a rosary and people disrespecting it have to do with hating america? do tell.

Oh you're bad.

Anyway, as far as the rosary thing goes, I just thought of something. Why hasn't the Catholic church said anything about crosses in general. There isn't one jewelry designer nowadays that hasn't designed some cross for strictly fashion purposes. I mean, there is of course the fact that the rosary is used for prayer and the cross is worn as more of a symbol.....but the use of them as fashion is the same is it not?

:innocent:

not really spike...a cross and a crucifix are two different things...most crosses as everyday jewelry do not have a little man nailed to them...

personally ...i find the whole cricifix thing absolutely repulsive... :yuk:
it always grossed me out as a kid to sit there every sunday and stare at this horrible image...
just not nice... :ninja:

Yeah, that's true....and personally I don't like crucafixes either, crosses are fine with me, but crucifixes are a bit much for me.
