Sabato De Sarno - Designer, Creative Director of Gucci

Debbie Harry is an icon, a legend, but Gucci is doing her so dirty with that campaign. Hedi is not my first choice for Gucci but he would have done something 1000% better.
Tbh, this picture would have been more suited for an YSL campaign, like they did with Diana Ross.
Somehow, Vacarello and YSL have found a respectful, dignified, way to photograph and celebrate older women - Diana Ross, Betty Catroux, Charlotte Rampling, Lauren Hutton, Chloe Sevigny, Gwyneth Paltrow etc - that no other brands have.
I don't see that in those Gucci pics.

It’s such a strange shot. The boobs, the sultry face. It’s giving madame 😭

our favorite “designer” made his way to get a little attention for this Milan Fashion Week lol

He has such an exquitie taste to match his shoes with the bag and almost steals Jacob Elordi's fashion status. I would suggest him helding his coat like those models in Raf's last Jil Sander collection.

He’s looking rough, poor guy. I’m so conflicted about him. On one hand, his antics are endlessly entertaining and fun to poke fun at, but on the other, I can’t help but feel a little bad for him. Let’s be honest, he’s got a one-way ticket to the Kering chopping block. It’s of his own doing of course, but it’s always hard to see a designer ousted. I couldn’t imagine how it would feel hearing endless rumors of someone taking your place. Perhaps moving forward I will only criticize his work, instead of him directly. It will be hard, with as much ammo as he provides, but it would be the right thing to do. My humanity be damned!

I was inspired by this thread while in the airport and went to visit the Gucci store… Dear lord, this brand is the opposite of luxury. It’s at the same level of Guess.

I think luxury brands will need to redefine their values in like 5 years or so… you can’t keep selling basic and tacky stuff for 20 years. It’s been like this since 2010, I think it will change soon… or maybe not.

Luxury and fashion these days are not luxury and fashion. They are just selling stuff to ex poor people that need to show the world they have certain status at the moment.

he has a very thick skin and is aware of everything said about him but he is confident in himself and is enjoying everyday he gets to live this fantasy. ( from people that are inside of the company thats the observation as he keeps marching to his own beat no matter the circumstances in the room )

imagine getting paid few millions per year to just be your mediocre self , would you be that bothered by critics when being you is all that you have known and now your getting rewarded for it.

he really believes in what he is doing is the right thing for the brand and what critics see as limitations is for him his added value to this project.

i feel more bad for the teams and people working late and overtime to just create a pile of nothingness.

Customers are starting to take notice of the discrepancies between quality and price. Why go to Gucci for basics when you can shop at the Gap or any number of mid-tier luxury brands? The same goes for bags. It’s not difficult to find a high quality leather bag for a fraction of the cost. Brands have no choice but to adapt. The luxury customer is becoming more knowledgeable, and they expect more for their money.

Valérie Leberichel looks very chic in that photo with Sabato. I wonder if she is wearing Gucci there? Because if she is, it looks desirable, so bravo to her.

Sabato unfortunately does not have a good sense of personal style, sorry to say. For the "star" designer of Gucci you expect much more than a nondescript overcoat and Dr. Marten shoes. And that bag SMH. So basic.
