Sabato De Sarno - Designer, Creative Director of Gucci

Valérie Leberichel looks very chic in that photo with Sabato. I wonder if she is wearing Gucci there? Because if she is, it looks desirable, so bravo to her.

Sabato unfortunately does not have a good sense of personal style, sorry to say. For the "star" designer of Gucci you expect much more than a nondescript overcoat and Dr. Marten shoes. And that bag SMH. So basic.
Yes she is, I recognize the slingbacks and the coat and bags combo.

Customers are starting to take notice of the discrepancies between quality and price. Why go to Gucci for basics when you can shop at the Gap or any number of mid-tier luxury brands? The same goes for bags. It’s not difficult to find a high quality leather bag for a fraction of the cost. Brands have no choice but to adapt. The luxury customer is becoming more knowledgeable, and they expect more for their money.
I agree… but they keep buying. They might be loosing the very rational customers, who by definition can’t be luxury clients because there’s nothing rational about luxury, and even though there’s a general agreement that the pieces now are much more basic and the quality is worse, they keep purchasing. They are so rich that don’t even care…
