Thanks for the advicemartinionrox said:I haven't read all the posts, but my advice is that if you happen to send polaroids to a big agency or visit some big ones in NYC, I would recommend starting off with a smaller agency. Big agencies tend to neglect the new faces, pay more attention the the bigger, more-developed girls, and then it's a big mess. If you start small and evntually build up, it tends to work out better. Npw that's not always the case. But usually with small agencies, your book is shown more attention.. you always have castings and go-sees set up, and over-all smaller boutique agencies WANT you to do good because it makes THEM look good as well (and of course, get more $$$) while the bigger agencies already have big girls, already have a lot of money, and show more attention the the new face girls that IMMEDIATELY start off big. It's not always the case, but lots of times starting off small and working up is the way to go to get your money's worth! Big agencies might offer a contract but that doesn't guarentee they will promote you enough or give you the attention you need to make it in the business. Plus, many girls that start off can be ignorant or vulnerable, and big agencies are used to being blunt about weight, skin care, etc. or even just mean in general. You want to be told how it is.. but you want to be told in a respectable manner.. and you need to be told WAYS to get thinner, not just starve yourself. Make sure you LIKE your booker and are comfortable with your surrondings and the other girls at the agency and that you can trust whoever does your finances.
If you get in somewhere, be prepared to do a LOT of walking, avoid an attitude at all times, and make sure you wear comfortable shoes and change into heels when needed! Drink lots of water, cut the carbs, be able to take constructive criticism, and have some fun! That's what the model's apartment can be for..hehe
That's all I have to say! Good luck.. it's a tough business, but such a learning experience no matter what! But being at LEAST 5'9 and up is usually the only accepted weight for high-fashion clients, you could grow or do commercial work (hey, it's still modeling and it still pays). But there are exceptions if you think you are up to being the next Kate Moss or Devon Aoki!
I just wish I was taller, its not fair! -does im pouting face-
