So You Want to Become a Model? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

People stop growing at different ages. My cousin grew 4 inches in one year, when she was 18 and is still growing at 20.

i've grown 3 inches since my 18th birthday i was 5'7 now i'm 5'10 (my card says 5.10.5  ) but they're really tight about hight recently i'm a special booking or something becuase clients are being really picky at the moment - its campaign season and stuff but whatever

Quite a few of my friends too, have grown at 18, just one or two inches. I wouldn't bet that you'll stop growing at 16. I was 5'9" last year, but I grew three inches this year to 5'11", and I thought I had stopped growing already.

im very interested in exposing myself to agencies. after reading this entire thread, we havent really gone over what type of personality they're looking for. obviously most of it is physical, but personality doesnt come far.

also, im from toronto, nothing compared to ny or la, but does anyone have information on agencies?

anything will be appreciated! thanks! :)

^ just be yourself - they tell you to be nice to everyone so they remember you, so maybe make sure you're nice to everyone?

How long does it usually take to hear back from agencies after you've sent your pictures in?

(Sorry if it's already been discussed.. I must have missed it..)

A lot of different factors could cause a delay in an agencies response....how busy they are, what time of the year it is,do they have a lot of models with your look etc.etc.etc. This said....if you are stunning and they want to grab you before anyone else does you will recieve a call right away for an interview.

Reading all these posts about entering the modeling world and such has really gotten me interested. I know I won't ever be able to make it as a model (I'm 5'4, could have been at least 5'8....my sister is almost 5'9, but I took a medication that stunted my growth, hopefulyl I'll still grow! ;P), but it's really interesting to read all the advice and encouragement that everyone is giving each other. =D

I went to the America's Next Top Model open-call and did pretty well in advancing. Should that give me any hope in succeeding in the "real" modeling world?

I've searched through about as many pages as I could before I got tired, haha. I'm a male, and traveling to NY to give it a shot the beginning of June. Can someone post a couple of top men's agencies. I tried to find IMG last year, and I think i walked up and down park ave. for an hour and still couldnt find it. So far i'm going to ford and major. Thanks for anyone that can help.

How tall is the average male model? I would love to be a model, but there's no way I am skinny enough, or good looking enough? But how tall are they usually?

everyone i've seen is around 6`1. There are very few listed as 6`3, which i am, but i may have to slide in as 6`2. Some i've seen arent even that skinny. As long as your waist is thin(30-34) it makes the rest of your body appear thinner. many of the new male models you see today are about 6`0 and have small frames. Hopefully i can bring back the old`school models*

I am not a 30-34 waist line though...I'm not much bigger, but I am only 15 now and by the time I'm 18 I wil be 6'4-6'6

Im still trying to read through all these pages (so far Im on page 14 :-P). I really would like to start modelling and I was wondering if you guys could give me any advice? Im a guy, 14 years old, im 5'11.5 and weight 105lbs.
I know its small but I have a picture of myself set as my display pic (myspace picture :-P)
