peta isn't telling kelis what to wear. it is merely stating facts: wearing fur is cruel.
What about vintage fur?
I have a rabbit fur coat from my grandmother, that she gave to me before she died. It's the only thing I have of her now.
I mostly have faux fur but I'm not going to give up that coat for anyone.
Used fur is ok because you're not supporting the industry (the suffering of animals) by buying new fur. Also, it would be wasteful to throw something useful you already have away. My problem (and I think PETA's) is buying new animal products.
It's interesting that animal rights groups don't make as big a deal about celebs (and the public) wearing leather jackets, bags, and shoes. It is no different to kill an animal for leather than it is to kill it for fur.
peta may lack "maturity" in some of their tactics, but they don't lack disregard for precious life like much the fur/leather industry. i bet you if you saw the way animals whose leather/fur you probably wear are treated, you would agree.
