Tall women vs short women ...

If you read closely, my first words were "at the extremes". Of course porportions are similar between a 5'5'' person and a 5'9'' person, but when you have people who are 4'10'', the porportions are not always the same. It's more that taller people look like they have smaller heads. There is variation in head size, but take at girl who is 5 ft tall and one who is 6'2,'' their head sizes will not be porportional.

Not true. I have a couple of friends who are 5' 1" and they don't have that problem. Try again.

Who cares, tall women , short woman...there is always something interesting.

But one thing is for sure TALL MEN. :p

i am between 5'6 / 5'7
its sucks because of that i was reject for modelling

If you have a great face, they usually over look certain things...this is probably why people want to be tall, is because models are tall, and the fashion industry is only accepting to those people. :(

If you really want to do it, keep trying.
You are the same height as Kate Moss.
Kate Moss — Height: 5' 6½"

Haha! Not for me. I like him to be around my size (5'7). Makes for the best kissing access.

Good luck! And, don't let them make you feel sorry for your height.
Your body is a precious gift.

If you mean that their bodies would be out of proportion with their heads (correct me if I'm wrong!) I have to disagree unless we're talking about people who are extremely fat or thin, or have dwarfism or gigantism (I don't consider 5'0" and 6'2" to be either of those). 4'10" is probably getting closer to dwarfism, but I can't remember the exact height where they draw the line.

I'm 5'2" (not much bigger than 5'0"). I fit in tops for 9-year-olds and have to wear hats made for toddlers (yes, I realise that sounds out of proportion, but one needs to take into account the fact that toddlers have heads big for their bodies!). I can't fit into kids' trousers, but that has to do with hips and thighs. My ring size is only 3 1/4. My feet are only a size 5 and so I often find there are no shoes in some stores or, if I am not looking for feminine shoes, I have to shop in the kids' section. Most 'one size fits all' things are miles too large for me. Nothing on my body is big in comparison to the rest of me: I am all in proportion.

I didn't actually realise how tiny I was overall until one day, in a dance class, the entire class sat down to watch a video of the teacher dancing and I saw in the mirror how incredibly minuscule I looked standing/sitting right next to my classmates (and they weren't all Amazons or morbidly obese). I had smaller legs, smaller feet, a smaller torso, smaller arms, smaller hands, fingers, head, face... everything.

My entire immediate family (excepting my brother, who is now as tall as my uncle) is under 5'4" and they all have the same problems. They do not have disproportionately large appendages for their bodies anywhere on them.

At the other end is my husband, who is 6'4". His immediate family (excepting his mother, who is average) are all 5'10" and above. He also has trouble finding clothes. Not just trousers, but also shirts and shoes. Glasses are usually not wide enough for his head because, being bigger than average, his head is also proportionately larger than average (I have the opposite problem and often have to opt for children's frames). Same for the rest of his family. They do not have disproportionately small appendages for their bodies.

If I've got the wrong idea about what you were trying to say, you can just ignore my essay.

I noticed what nietche noticed. I am just under 6ft,and when i sit down next to most women, there is not much difference in how talll i seem. it seems most the height from being tall is from the legs and neck.

With me it seems that most of the time it is obvious that the majority of people are taller than I am even when I am seated (and I am not hunching over). I also think it is obvious that people are shorter than my husband when seated next to him, unless it is a very small height difference.

i think being short is great since it is easier to seem curvy. also its easier to seem slender.
If she also has a small frame to match her height, yes. Though if she has a medium frame and is short, she might end up looking stocky.

most people assume if your tall, you should be modellish thin. i had a romie who was 5.9 and150. a fine weight for her height. people called her 'thick' it was ridiculous. (according to medical charts 145 is the ideal weight for 5.9)
I don't like the fact that people assume such things about tall people. It puts unnecessary pressure on them when they are perfectly healthy and normal as they are. I knew a tall girl who was 34-28-38 and even though she was not thin enough to be a model she still looked very slim. Only something like 5 or 10% of women are born that tall with 34-24-34 (or less) measurements.

'Model weight' is also a problem for petite women because even when they are a healthy weight for their height, people still believe they are underweight because they weigh the same as that 'anorexic model' on TV/in that magazine/wherever. Never mind that the weight is squashed into a body that is half a foot smaller than the one of whatever model they're thinking of!

haha! Its true!! I'm 5'9 and a UK size 10/12 (I don't weigh, weighing makes me feel bad!) and I am convinced that if I was shorter I would be much "bigger" than I am now. Tall people can definetely carry more weight than shorter people!

I agree with this, though if a shorter woman is an hourglass shape it does not look so bad. Salma Hayek is the only example that comes to mind at the moment.

I'm 6'0, i love it EXCEPT that most men are shorter than me & I cannot wear heels. Esp. the heels part :p

I find people of height 'extremes', meaning 5'11" (180cm)+ and below 5'0" are always accepting of their height. While all in between, the 'average' so to speak, are always less accepting...

I agree! I am 5'6 and 3/4" My dream height has always been 5'10" but I'm 22 so that's only a fantasy now. My height works well and I barely ever feel any problems with being too short or tall in any situation. Maybe I should enjoy being average. But I always still wish I was 3" taller! I think it is because many of us who love fashion, even though I am happy with my body and am proportional, we have that model ideal in our head and always think that is the best body-type. I have been modeling very small-time locally on the side while in college and when my height hurts me the most is on castings or even when I get jobs, I'm always the shortest model there. It makes me feel ashamed a little. And kind of "less than" the other girls. Especially when there are 16 year-olds who are 6' and up! But I don't show that it bothers me.;)

I'm 5'8" and personally I love it. My romantic interest/ish is 6'4" so wearing heels isn't a problem. I love towering over people, I feel like when I walk into a room and I'm wearing heels that make me 6'+ tall I have a lot of presence.

Eurasian---your tall friend is pretty slim. she is probably thinner than height /weight charts ideal.
tyra banks is great example of my theory. supposedly she weighs 160. at 5.11, that is a good size according to BMI and health officials. 155 is supposedly ideal for her height. HOwver she gets attacked for her size.
