Tall women vs short women ...

Being "cute," and "dainty" and whatever else comes with being short isn't necessarily a good thing for a girl. There's more to life than what a guy prefers, there's also careers to think about. If you work as a business woman or lawyer, looking cute won't do you any favors... I guess it could but I would assume most females would prefer not to resort to those kinds of favors.

That's true. I often feel like I will never be taken seriously in the work force due to my lack of height (5'0''). I think I will always look as though I'm a 14 yr old kid.

I understand you, but it's not only about height. I'm 5'9, but everyone thinks i'm 16. (i turn 23 this year )

I think people will take you seriously if you send the message that that's how you should be taken :flower:

I definitely agree to that.
TO be taken seriously has nothing to do with your height! It is all about the expectations you set out for yourself.

I find that being tall makes one more noticable... especially when brighter colors are worn.

i've noticed that tall girls will undersetimate their height. I have an aquaintance who is clearly, like 6.1-6.2, yet she insists oh I'm 6ft. often the tall girls feel self-concious of anything over 5.11. anthing over that is considered "less pretty"

I am quite small (5'3/5'4) and I really like it. I have always been treated as a princess because of my height and looks (I look very very young). Of coruse from time to time I dream to be a tall woman, model like but I think it's pointless to think about what we don't have and will never have.

With most people... but on occasion you will still get that one person who talks down to you as if you're a three-year-old even when you were polite, respectful and mature towards them. I find it is usually elderly people who have that kind of attitude towards young-looking people (bad experiences making them assume too much, perhaps).

i am more comfortable with tall women that is above 170cm (it's higher than average here in russia i believe; at least most girls i meet are shorter)
i'm kinda tall myself (182cm) so i feel a bit of an a$$ when 'looking down' on people who are much shorter than i am and thus prefer to lean to a wall or smth.

interesting thread.. i'm 5'4" and i've always wanted to be taller (most of my female cousins are at least 5'8"...) but i think i inherited the long limbs/big bone gene from my dad...LOL if that makes any sense at all.

i wear size 39 shoes (pretty big feet for my height) and somehow i look way taller than my friends who are 5'3", it's really strange. they think i can pull of wearing long jackets and trenchcoats whereas they can't. perhaps it's my proportions?

anyways i have a friend who's at least 180cm but she hates it. she's chinese and most asians are pretty petite, so she's even taller than most of the guys! however, she does have a wonderful collection of flats.....hahaha

At 5'3", you can only have so much leg. I mean, maybe you have the long limbs, of a 5'5" person max. I remember someone tried to convince me that they, being 5'5", has longer legs than their 6'0" friend. That's impossible. You need space for your insides, therefore your body is going to take up a huge chunk of your over all height.
You may also look taller if you have skinny legs. I have a friend who is 5'2", and she's no more than 90 pounds, and when she wears black tights, you'd think she was atleast 5'7". Illusions. That why short models are always skinnyyyyy skinny skinny (ie: kate moss).

I'm a very tall girl - almost 6'1" (185 centimeters), and I've always hated my height.

But as I've got older, I've become very satisfied and enjoy, that I'm not like the most girls. Finding hot guys at my height has never been a problem for me- for example; my ex was 6'2" and we current boyfriend is around 6'5". I'm not wearing high, high heels, which I would love to sometimes - but well, I can live with it.

Of course I have moments when I wish to be lower and more invisble - but in general I'm pleased about my height. Actually I saw a girl today; she's was the same height as me, and she looked gorgeous!

Wear high heels!! People will be in awe of you. ;)

I'm 5'2" so that's a height I'd never be able to achieve with any heels, heehee.

Yay for confidence! we all have days when we feel like the grass may be greener on the other side :flower:

I'm 5'9 and I've gotten used to my height the past few years. I used to be very self conscious being the tallest girl that I knew. However, I'd feel very uncomfortable around anyone taller than me. It wasn't until I met a lady and her daughters at my previous job that were over 6'2 (the mom was the shortest at 6'3). They ALL wore heels. I had the hardest time finding low heels or flats. Now I love my height. Sometimes I don't see myself as tall at all. Of course the only thing I don't like is that I am taller than a lot of men so I'm usually looked over for the shorter women, but that's okay. I wouldn't give my height away for anything. Especially now that a lot of stores have started carrying tall clothes.

I cannot begin to tell you how happy I was when I tried on an extra long pair of jeans and they dragged the floor. LOL

What I hate most about being tall is it's hard to find flats that fit. That sounds a little weird but the taller you are, the leaner your feet are. Towering over everybody at a little over 5'9'' makes me awfully self-conscious. Especially going to a formal party where heels are mandatory. I wish it were easier for us tall folk to find flats that don't squish our toes.
