Tall women vs short women ...

Im 5ft4.5 which i think is about average female height in the uk. I have friends who are 5ft5 and 5ft6 who dont like wearing heels because it makes them feel too lanky (they look fien in my opinion. Id probably like to be an inch or so taller, but perosnaly would prefer to be too short rather than too tall. Though there are pros and cons to each i guess, i like my men to be at least a few inches taller than me, so id have to dump my bf if i was 6ft lol.

Slightly OT, but as a tall-ish girl, it always bugs me to see short ladies with really tall men. I know you can't control who you love, but really... if they date the 5'9 guys and leave the 6'+ ones to us, everyone would be happy!

Being "cute," and "dainty" and whatever else comes with being short isn't necessarily a good thing for a girl. There's more to life than what a guy prefers, there's also careers to think about. If you work as a business woman or lawyer, looking cute won't do you any favors... I guess it could but I would assume most females would prefer not to resort to those kinds of favors.

well, being tall doesn't necessarily bring luck either. It doesn't really matter what guys want to me. If a dude won't date a chick because she's 5'11" and he's 5'9", then he's obviously got some self esteem issues.
As for the cute and dainty thing, not all short people are perceived that way. I know some short girls who look like you shouldn't mess with them. That's just a stereotype. Just like saying all tall girls are models.

Ahaha. I bet your going to fall in love with a shortie.

Not all tall girls are models, but it's nearly impossible to be a model when you're short (normal short, not model short). It's a proven statistic taller men are more successful... there is a certain power element to being tall. Of course it's not impossible for short women to look powerful, it's just more difficult.

It really doesnt matter because there are beautiful women of ALL heights. I'm right in between, and personally if I had to choose Id rather be petite like Christina Aguilera or Eva Longoria than to resemble a model.

Actually being attractive is usually helpful in a career, not to mention life, lol!

The perfect height imo is 5'7"-5'10". Women look best from 5'5"-5'11" imo. anything taller than 5'11" looks bad and it's hard to have a well-proportioned body at 6' plus. When you're short it's hard to have a well proportioned body as well as one inch off means you whole body looks weirdly proportioned.

That doesn't make sense because proportions are all about scale, therefore height doesn't matter.

There's just something more inherently feminine about being on the petite side.

I'm petite and 5'3" and although I wished it were easier to find jeans in my size without always having to get them tailored (i feel it ruins the shape sometimes) I think it's a cute height and i can live with myself.

It's not like a 6 footer has a 1 foot body and 5 feet of legs. EVERYTHING is longer. And it's not like a 5'5" person doesn't have hardly any leg at all.
Yes, being taller makes you have longer legs, but it's also a longer torso, and longer arms (your arm span usually matches your height).

Yes, take Abraham Lincoln, for example. He was 6'4", so most people recognize him by his long legs, but he also had abnormally lengthy arms.

Rumor has it he had long fingers, too, but there are so few pictures of his hands that we'll never be able to tell for sure. -_-

i'm 5' 6" i guess i'm taller than some girls but... i wish i could be a few inches taller :(

I know but if you're too tall and your body is off scale proportionally it's very noticeable. Like if your torso is too long and you're 6'2" it's very obvious and looks bad. But if you're 5'6" and your torso is too long, it's not that big of a deal. Same with legs. If you're 5'0" however it's hard to have a defined waist plus long legs (in comparison to your body) because at that height you can only have one and not the other. 5'5"-5'11" is the perfect height imo.

Tennis player Ivo Karlovic is 208 cm (6'10" tall) and his wife is supposedly 5'3" (160 cm tall).

I'm 100% petite. I am only 5'3 and have tiny bone structure. Sometimes I get oversensitive when people at work bring me their kid's hand-me-downs to wear, but I try and shrug it off and just smile. Incidents like this make me feel less womanly a lot of the time, but I must admit that being petite can be fun sometimes. It makes me feel cute and protected. Still, it would be so great to be tall with super long legs...even if just for a day!
I never understood why people think 5'3" is that short. I guess it's because you're small boned. My mom is 5'4" and she says she's taller than most of the women at her work. It seems like so many women are 5'1" or 5'2". Especially actresses.

At the extremes, the proportions could be compromised. Your torso has to fit a bunch of organs and stuff, and if you're very short that can't be compromised while the length of your lower body can. Also, proportions are only scale with respect to length... width and head size are completely different issues. Shorter people look like they have bigger heads.

i once dated this hockey player who was 6' 7" haha it probably looked pretty funny to see me standing next to him a dinky 5' 6" haha

... Ive never looked at a short person and thought that, because their head is probably IN PROPORTION to their body (kind of like a 9 heads thing).

Your organs can also be smaller because obviously they'll grow as you get bigger. How old are you? Because it's really odd that you've never seen people at different heights w/ different proportions.

And people's heads aren't all the same size anyways. Ive seen people w/ big heads and it usually has little to do w/ height.

Yeah that's not true especially since your weight has more of an effect on whether your waist is defined or not. Who cares about long limbs anyways? Im 5'4" and have long legs and long, lanky arms and its not that special.

I am 5'9, and I often feel too tall, I rarely feel a guy is tall enough to make me feel secure, lol.

I feel like an alien or the CN tower if I wear heels taller than an inch.

Anyways, I like my height.

BTW, what are we trying to discuss here?

Uh oh..maybe doctors should keep an eye on anyone who is short with long legs in proportion to torso.. Wouldn't want the "bunch of organs and stuff" to get cramped and stop working. :innocent:
Do they cover this in medical school?
