i'll stop for today...enjoy. ^_^

Isn´t Patrick Fugit amazing? :) Must look for a thread on him..

Terry....I dont understand his work all too well. Like many people have said it comes off as amateur p*rn. I can relate to his use of a 35mm camera, but his concepts are completely overdone time and time again. Sometimes it feels hes unable to come up with any other direction other than trying to gross us out. This may be his signature style but I dont see much change within his photos.

The only photos I enjoy of his are the ones that show up in major publications, for example the Chloe campaign with Jessica Miller a few years ago was something I enjoyed. Or the Paris Vogue editorial with Morgane. Id be alot more interested if he followed his work in this direction..

But his other concepts annoy me, since I dont see any artistic merit in photographing his Japanese photo assistant nude.. (what used to be on his website)...

But as for me, im not a fan of his work, but others are...
So I will leave it at that
;)

well said yourbestfriend...
tried to karma you but apparently it's too soon for me to be doing that again :p
it can be hard to explain the reaction to terry's work...
i definitely would not call myself a fan of it, but i know i am intrigued to a certain extent

reading the same stuff again and again on 15pages! is sooo boring! your arguments are all the same "crappy, dirty, p*rno" blablablabla...
Terry just show the world (fashionworld, his friends etc.) the real way they are! his photo ARE NOT photoshoped!!
and reading your "blabla" about him and the fact he is a pervert I WOULD LOVE to hear your opinions about Vincent Peters! who is one of the most KNOWN pervert in fashion photography!
Terry just don't lie about himself! that's it!
reading your "blabla" about his "esthetic" which is always the same I would love to hear you about Ellen Von Unwerth
reading your "blabla" about his "non professional" stuff! i would love to hear you about Karl lagerfeld (who has more than 10 ASSTs around him taking photos etc.) Karl Lagerfeld photographer is the biggest lie ever in fashion photography
and about nude or pervet...i guess you should look at helmut newton "private" shoots!

Terry is nice guy who just doesn't pretend to be a TOP ARTIST (as a lot of others fashion photo fakers do!)
but maybe you don't like "realistic" things and so your place is not there! by the way where are the photos in this thread! there're just "blabla" (moreover always the same!)
check his work in Purple and Vogue Paris! you'll be surprised!

I think everyone here has seen the "classier" work he´s done, the point (for myself at least) is not that he can´t take beautiful pictures (my av is of a photo by him and I love it) but that he seems to repeat himself quite a bit. A lot of his pictures look the same to me. And that he is showing himself as he is has probably escaped no one, and that too is beside the point. Honest and "real" doesn´t always make for good art in my opinion, I could care less if his work is photoshopped or not, it´s what he chooses to photograph that is sometimes unappealling to me.

And he may well be a very nice guy, but that does not make him a talent.

I'm quite OK with Berlinrocks..

Terry is not only a nice guy (I met him at Starbucks.. a funny place for an American in Paris:p ), he is also rather modest on his work.. he doesn't pretend to make art.. he just has fun fun fun!

he has a strong signature and universe... but it's true that:
- you love or hate
- his work is sometimes the same..

What is it with fanboyism these days? I can hardly move for all the 'I love Karla/Galliano/Terry and all j00 dissers is da $ux0r!!! lol' posts.

I love his pictures that don't involve nudity (most of them are just too much for me - a bit vulgar, and I'm not an uptight person at all), they seem to capture the subject's personality, what they are all about. I tend to like more simple photography. I've found that a lot of the time, when you take away all of the smoke and mirrors, the special effects, the result is so much more interesting and raw. Raw emotion is a lot more engaging than something fabricated. We can relate to it.

I think it's cool, actually, that he has caused such a stir with his work. One of my dance teachers said, "Meaningful art is one that evokes an intense reaction. I don't like it when people just tell me, "Your choreography is good". I like it when they either tell me they loved it or hated it. That means I caused some sort of a reaction, which is good either way."

That makes sense to me.
