I love his pictures that don't involve nudity (most of them are just too much for me - a bit vulgar, and I'm not an uptight person at all), they seem to capture the subject's personality, what they are all about. I tend to like more simple photography. I've found that a lot of the time, when you take away all of the smoke and mirrors, the special effects, the result is so much more interesting and raw. Raw emotion is a lot more engaging than something fabricated. We can relate to it.
I think it's cool, actually, that he has caused such a stir with his work. One of my dance teachers said, "Meaningful art is one that evokes an intense reaction. I don't like it when people just tell me, "Your choreography is good". I like it when they either tell me they loved it or hated it. That means I caused some sort of a reaction, which is good either way."
That makes sense to me.
