The Artist was surprisingly good...the firs 10 mins of the movie I was like...is the sound ok? Is the whole movie going to be like this?..but then I really got into the movie.

I've been procrastinating so much on The Artist but I feel like after watching The Turin Horse, I can endure anything!

023. High Anxiety (1977) - I though I wasn't gonna like this cuz it spoofs my fave director, Hitchcock, but I was quite funny
024. The Help - looooved this movie people say that it left out, made light of, or skated over a lot of racism but I thought it was prefect
025. Super 8 - finally JJ Abrams gets it right.. Those kids were badass

026. Sin (2003) - waste of time, but Gary Oldman still rocked
027. The Education of Charlie Banks (2007)
028. Wall-E (2008) - I just love me an animation film. I don't know if there are others who think this way but I'd go see a disney pixar/dreamworks animation film waaaaay before I'd see a film by almost any actor.. Animation has far more credibility

I tried that last year with Magic Hour Films, and failed , particularly for what you mention, the lack of availability.. it's just too contemporary, undistributed.. it takes an extensive quest to find each documentary they've produced, so I gave up.

It is much easier with classic filmmakers I assume.. or hope!.. but then I rely a lot on free (admittedly pirate) sites.

What about Woody Allen? You'll have some really good ones, some stinkers, some funny, some dramatic. He always has excellent ensemble casts. He has tried lots of different things: fantasy, darker dramas, realism, even a musical. You don't have to go in order either. But anyhow, he has a huge oeuvre!

6. Failure to Launch (4.5) Zooey Deschanel has one of my favourite movie performances ever in this film.
7. The Big Lebowski (5) on the big screen! (an all-time favourite)
8. Jurassic Park (5) on the big screen!
9. Back to the Future 2 (5) on the big screen! (an all-time favourite)

10. Tower Heist (2.5) It's watchable. I expected it to be the worst thing ever, and it wasn't at least that.
11. In Time (3) Fantastic sci-fi premise, terrible execution. Sasha Pivavarova (sp?) makes a 1 second cameo with no lines, so better to YouTube that. The dialogue was atrocious. Good-looking cast, because in this "dystopia", everyone has to look 25 years old . Justin Timberlake is not a good actor and that doesn't make for a good leading man. Even Amanda Seyfried, who I recognize is talented enough, couldn't carry off the bad script.

i can't believe how deceiving in all its simplicity A Better Life was. the plot was simple and straightforward enough, then next thing i know i was weeping like a baby what a moving film, i hope Demian Bichir wins Best Actor, if not Jean Dujardin.

26-Alice in Wonderland (2010) -Rewatch-
What can I say? I´m a big Burton fan, he can do no wrong in my eyes
Great customs by Colleen Atwood, I´m looking forward to see more of her work in Dark Shadows and Snow White and the Huntsman.



27-The Artist (2011)
I had reservations with this movie because all the hype but from the very beginning to the very end I was pleased with it, not a dull moment. The actors walked the fine line between overacting and doing just the right amount of acting to express emotions without the help the spoken word brings, I think it´s hard to emote without the help of tone. And in this day and age I think it´s even harder to make something so enjoyable without the help and distractions of FXs and 3D, the movie bares down to cinema basics and it works beautifully.
I think this might become one of my favorite movies, I love the dressing room scene with Berenice (who steals the movie!)

I've been so terrible about watching movies!
I just watched the entire first season of Downton Abbey though, so that took up some of my time

And, I have a confession to make... I don't think I've ever seen an Audrey Hepburn film
I may have to remedy that this year.

That's why I've been reluctant to watch it..I'm on an Oscar's challenge of my own so this year at least I know what they'll be talking about at the ceremony instead of just watching the red carpet, but I'm afraid I'll cry my eyes out with that movie...

^Completely agree. We should be able to rant about whatever movies we loathed or movies that we loved on this thread. And Sobriquet87, if it was Breakfast at Tiffany's that you disliked, that's totally fine. Personally, I love the movie but I can see why it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
