^ Yes ... the problem with those charts is that they have to create categories, and then choose colors that will work for everyone. That process may eliminate some of the very best colors for you. I love purple & dusty rose on me, as I recall two colors that CMB would never recommend for me. So best thing IMO is to use the systems as a jumping off point.
It's also helpful to get a grip on how to adapt the colors you wear ... so if you are stressed and broken out, bright red next to your face or on yours lips is not going to be your friend. But on a day when your complexion is perfect, it might be just fine.
Caramel, I think it's all what really makes you comfortable. Are you wishing for more color as you're out and about in the world? Or do you just feel it's something you should do? If color isn't really what you wish for, maybe texture could be something to consider--if you're looking to add interest.
