The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #6

I have a great navy trench from Zara and I've been wearing it at least for 3 Springtimes already and I am planning another couple of seasons too :) Was initially expensive (over £80) but it is surprisingly well made and with a classic cut. Another one I have is from All Saints (bought at a winter sale a couple of years ago, otherwise their clothes is way too expensive), this time in beige-grey (I think the French call this colour 'greige'!). If I were on a lookout for a great trench coat which I am not anymore , I would have a look in COS as well :flower:

Your summer wardrobe looks very nice eizhowa, I love all the rust pieces you have. I have a scarf in that colour and it's my favourite, perhaps I should try to introduce more of it into my wardrobe...

I'm another one who finds dressing for summer difficult. Whenever temperatures rise above 20C I feel like all my sense of style goes out the window, probably because it happens so rarely here. I never feel really prepared. Fashion wise I prefer spring and autumn, with moderate temperatures that are good for layering.

This is my colour scheme: navy, khaki green, black, white, tan, grey

Not true colours for summer. But I really can't stand other colours. I like to dress monochrome even in summer. So maybe I will wear a lot of grey, green and white shirts. And combine it with tan.

No need to wear colours if you do not feel comfortable in them. I know a lot of girls that feels like they should wear colours. I think we should stop making should determine our choices in life, including what colours we wear ;)

I really like the dress, where is it from?

^The navy dress is from Vanessa Bruno. I love it too, but I have never seen it on Ebay:(

Received my pink shoes tonite ... tried them on when I got home & they're a tad tight, but my feet are also swollen after wearing heels 2 days in a row + lots of walking around. I'm going to try them on again in the morning.

They're very pretty, and I didn't realize the heel is covered in the pink pebbled leather. The color is indeed dark pink, and doesn't have that cheap look so common to pink shoes, so that part is definitely working. In fact, I guess they're the raspberry pink color I've been looking for for years now. I just compared them to my front door, and they're slightly lighter.

They're definitely a pointed shoe, but I'm ready for that again ;)

My current wishlist (it changes frequently as I can check things off or new needs appear). I used to keep my summer and winter wishlist seperate, but since I try to keep a somewhat transeasonal wardrobe and I will buy a winter item if the right one appears even though we're headed for summer, I have decided to do just one list.

- Trenchcoat (pref. a 2nd hand/vintage Burberry)
- Black jeans
- Black skirt to go with all of my tops. Preferable a pencil skirt but it could be something draped too. Classic though.
- ACNE Canada scarf (I think I will get it in grey)
- Black, classic wool coat
- A new wallet (at some point, I can make do for a while longer)
- Mulberry small willow in black with silver hardware (that might take a while as well ;))

Right now I am focusing on finding the trenchcoat. My next step will be the jeans, although I would like to start with the skirt, but I think that will be more difficult, whereas I have a pretty good idea regarding what jeans I want.

@fashionista-ta You've got a pink front door?! How utterly fun! I'm glad you're liking your shoes, is the seond fit better?

@Betinapple Concerning a maxi dress. I really have no idea what kind of maxi dress I want, but the back should be covered. I like for example Issa, but haven't seen the perfect one. I keep browsing clothes on the internet and hopefully sometime a perfect maxi dress catches my eye.

My hubby bought a Belstaff wool coat (classic standard model) during the sale and I have to say that the fabric/cut/construction is great, didn't know the brand well, but overall it's is a bit too bikerish for my taste.

Most of the time I like (dark) gray/green/blue/black etc because I don't want catching too much attention. I like understated clean chic outfits. But sometimes I wear a bright color e.g. fire red pants and top and at that moment I like the attention it's attracting. ^_^

I am also a fan of that pink door!:D

Nymphaea: I don't like catching to much attention either usually, but my hair is very bright anyway, so I just go with it. Reducing the numbers of colors I wear by matching them to my natural colors is my way of not sticking out too much, but still looking good;)

Betina: I think you have some really good items on that list. They all seem like they would go thogether and with most of your existing pieces. I think getting a grey or black acne scarf would be the ideal for you:) The grey would probably look nicer with your silver/black willow though:)

I probably should make a combined list as well. The problem is that while I have a clear vision of my S/S wardrobe, my F/W feels like it is all over the place! Probably because F/W is 10 months out of the year, and S/S only two. It is much easier to plan for 2 months!

Caramel: Thank you! I think hot weather is so easy because all you need to do is put on a pair of sandals and a summer dress and you are done!

Maybe a weird question, but do you ever shop at the men's section? Because I saw the perfect grey shirt from COS at the men's section. And I even like this green sweater. I was looking for a dark green/olive sweater for a long time. I will try to fit one size down so it will look more feminine. What do you think?

^I would do it in a heartbeat when I spot something I like and it fits well!

I shop in the mens section (I have three mens wool jumpers). Often womens jumpers have too many details for my liking, whereas it's easy to find a plain wool crewneck jumper in a basic colour in the mens section. I used to have a couple crewneck tees a couple of years ago, and the sleeves fit longer than womens. For reference, I wear a womens L and buy mens S, and am 1,74m tall.

On a different note: the boots I ordered from ASOS work great. I got them yesterday and wore them today and they were comfortable and definitely different from my other shoes. I wore them with skinny jeans, but I'm wondering what else I could wear those with, as they are wide on the top and I don't think they would look so good with cropped trousers.
Also, I had to stuff them a little in the front, but I have to do it with every shoe that is any kind of pointy :ermm: I wonder if that's just me? I just find them more comfortable and a better grip like that... had some pointy red flats when I was a teen that I did the same with...

On another hand, I have been looking for the flats I mentioned before (have them pinned in white on my wishlist board, but am looking for them in black). I found them easily and tried them on. They fit (again, ideally I'd have the front stuffed  ), but there were some marks on the leather of the upper front of the shoe, some raised dots... nothing really visible, but I wouldn't buy damaged shoes unless they were heavily discounted, which those weren't. So I asked them to find me a second pair and have it delivered in the store, and as I went there today and casually told the SA about it... I find a 1cm gray mark in the back of one of the shoes, which means I sent them back once again. Not so lucky with that pair, it seems.

I do ;) House is the color of chocolate milk, shutters and trim deep purple, front door raspberry pink. I wanted a color scheme no one else had, & I got it  The guy who owns the rental property across the street made fun of me while it was being painted ... whatevah :rolleye:

Sadly the shoes are too narrow. They are quite narrow at the heel. The R is probably fine, but the L (bigger foot) is definitely not. I think I'm going to try the next size.

Tata do you think you could post a photo of your front door? I'm painting my house a light version of chocolate milk. I really wanted to paint it pink but unfortunately it wouldn't work, but maybe I could also have a pink door!

After some of you were saying how important it is to love everything in your wardrobe I realised that I really do have too much filler. I have a lot of clothes and I probably love 50% of them and 90% of my shoes and coats. But that means I really need to have a good cull. I thought I was being fairly ruthless last year but I can see so many things just cluttering up the space.

Trenchcoat: I think you should be fine shopping in the menswear department. Your SJ breton is a unisex/mens style;)

Sorry, I don't have any pix of the current color scheme, but the door is pretty much the color of a raspberry.

It sounds like you like a lot of variety in your wardrobe. I don't keep anything that actively drags me down, but I don't necessary get rid of things that aren't 100% perfect. (100% is a big number, and love is a strong word!) I just take a note to improve on the features I don't prefer next time ;)

Tata- yes you are right love is a very strong word. Probably I should have said I am satisfied with 50% of my wardrobe :) the frustrating thing is I get to the point when I am really happy with everything, and then I get bored.
