The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #7

Gilt has Lanvin ballets on sale in some interesting colors, like plum ... however, they are non-returnable.

I found myself in desperate need for a new bag, since the majority of them were ruined by the flood last year ... The investment of a new black leather bag will be postponed till I find the perfect one, preferably within the next summer sale. But I was missing a versatile smaller bag which could be used for different occasions - for running errands in daytime and also as a more elegant bag for evenings. I came across this leather Warehouse one in light grey and couldn't stop thinking of it since, so I ordered it last night. I think the shade is perfect for all year long, especially so since I have so many grey items. Not having any grey bags was additional plus when deciding whether I should get it or not, as was the gold hardware which I love. This kind of bags/clutches usually come with silver one which I dislike.
It is new season though, but I manage to get a discount code. Gotta love those. ^_^

^That is a truly lovely bag, Jinadaze! It looked blue on my other computer, and I thought it was lovely then. I adore it in grey:heart: Were you able to save your Alexa bag?

Caramel: I have a tiny vintage gold filled watch as well:flower: It has dies though, as I could never remember to take it off before I took a shower:doh: It was running so slowly towards the end, I once came to class 20 minutes late... And I know exactly what you mean about the wrist bone and large watches. It drove me nuts.

I was looking thru pix yesterday, and came across one that shows one quadrant of my Christmas sweater :P The other side and the back are Santa. I remember someone wanted to see it ...

PS Nice bag, Jinadaze! One of my coworkers has one that is grey with a subtle silver wash, and it also has gold hardware. I remember thinking that was unusual ...

For the person that asked about Massimo Dutti. Yes the quality is really good. I have a jumper that is made of wool, silk and cashmere. Very good! Does anyone know where to find an ecru roll neck knit? I combine this jumper all the time, and think the colour is very chique with black.

^That exact Isabel Marant sweater is on sale at La garconne. They have an additional 20% off tonight also. If you don't want to pay that much, I would just look for a second hand Karine sweater. The sweater has a very interesting and unique looking fabric.

If you are just interested in that exact color, I found a lovely turlteneck on Etsy. It is cashmere and has lovely ribbed details. Please ignore the really bad presentation of the item... You can find it here. I think it would look really lovely in real life.

Ps. deleted my first post, because the link was dead/item sold out:(

Im such a lucky girl! Am doing so many amazing vintage purchases lately and I feel like im genuinely proud of my wardrobe. Just soms little additions.

^^ That's great Trenchcoat! Do you have any pictures of your new items? I would love to see...

@Jinadaze: Great bag! It looks very versatile and like it will work for any season.

@ fashionista-ta: That sweater looks interesting! I've noticed that novelty Christmas sweaters seem to be a thing other places, but I can't remember ever seeing one here. :D

I happened upon the most annoying sales assistances yesterday while out looking for a blazer. I went to try on the Filippa K one that I mentioned, they have a shorter model called the Jackie which is the one I was looking for. The xs fit me well in the shoulders and length but I felt like it was pulling a little across the chest so I asked to try a small to compare the two. First of all they would barely let me because they claimed the one I had on was perfect, that a small would never fit me. I said I would just like to compare the two and after some discussion back and forth they reluctantly agreed. When I expressed hesitation about both the jackets (the xs fit best overall but the s was much better across the chest) they were suddenly convinced that it was the length that I didn't like (the only thing that I was absolutely certain about), and said of course we knew you made a mistake when you asked for the Jackie because that is not the one everyone gets, Eve is the one everyone gets, all across the country everyone is buying the Eve and everyone looks good in the Eve so that is the one you must try. When I told them I was sure it would be too long on me, they tried to convince me by saying they knew women even shorter than me who looked great in it, everyone looks good in it, so they were absolutely sure it was the one for me (too). Of course, as I'd predicted, I looked like a midget with 10 cm legs in it (it's only because you are wearing flats!), and as I returned all the jackets to them and backed out of the store they kept on discussing how silly I'd been to want to try the Jackie when obviously I had wanted the Eve because everyone wants the Eve... :hardhead:

The short filippa-K blazer looks like the nicest one in my eyes. The long one would look very corporate and overpowering on my frame (which is kind of similar to yours:wink:).

I completely understand how you feel about the service! Filippa-K sales assistants scare me to be honest. (Prepare for a frustrated rant:angry:) The shop in my town is usually quite empty (or minimalist - whatever you want to call it), but there are always 3 people working there... I can't handle that many eyes on me, and I always flee into the dressing room and hide there:lol: To be honest, I don't think I have ever bought anything because of "helpful" sales assistants. If they want a sale, they should not look at me and leave me alone in a corner with a mirror. Honestly, who trains these people! * frustrated * I really wanted to try on some of the sweaters in the mens department, but I was too afraid too, because I felt like the 3 people watching me would be judging me so bad...

Since I am on a roll about annoying sales reps... I also had a bad experience at HM. I bought a size 12 years kids tee last year that I really liked the length and fit of, and I saw on their website that they had ribbed tank tops as well this year. So I went in to buy some, and because I don't know where anything is in the kids department I asked the sales rep (a lady in her 40-50s) where I could find the basic ribbed tanks. She asked who it was for and what size I was interested in. I told her they were for me, and she told me to go to the womens department...(rather stricktly imo, I felt like I was being told off). I work in the service industry myself part time, and I find that kind of "service" so meaningless. I mean, I had purposely walked through the womens dep. to get to the kids department, and I was standing next to pink sparkly tights and tutus for two year olds when it was happening. Did she think I didn't know exactly where I was? I was so baffled by her reaction I sort of stumbled out of there dumbfounded... If you look at HM sizes, then 165cm tall means you vertically fit a size 16 years. I see no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to shop in the kids department if I wanted too. That tutu is starting to look pretty good to me now...

If anyone know where I can get ribbed tanks, size 12-14 years in a WOMENS department, please let me know... Preferably in a store with only 1, not 3 sales assistants.

It felt nice to get that off my chest:innocent:

Caramel: Regarding novelty sweaters... I have mentioned it before, but I feel like the jante law is still very strong in norwegian culture. Wearing a variation of the marius-sweater is much more Norwegian than a unique sweater. A grey marius sweater (I have one...) is new and "unique" but within reason... It might be different in larger cities though, where you are exposed to many different cultures and more people.

Thanks for sharing your sales assistants experiences! If I could have my own way I would like to have the whole store for myself and no sales assistents in store, so I can try the things I like without someone pushing me to buy it. That's why I like online ordering because I can try the piece for a couple of days in different moods :P and with different combinations.

Great sweater fashionista-ta, thanks for sharing. It puts me right away in the Christmas mood.

Atm searching for some elegant/feminine sandals and/or sneakers that I can walk in the whole day. Suggestions are welcome!

^Have you tried K Jaques sandals? They make a lot of nice, chic sandals. I haven't had the chance to try them on yet though.

I live almost 24/7 in my Camper sandals during the summer; I can walk all day in those for sure <3 They have support and traction. And depending on the style you choose they can be elegant. Not dressy, but elegant.

@eizhowa: Ugh, I completely sympathize! That feeling of being told off, that's exactly how I felt for picking the 'wrong' jacket. For what it's worth I've often bought t-shirts from the children's department. If someone asks you again you could just say, 'oh, it's for a 14 year old girl, she's about my height and size' and perhaps they will let you buy it without questions then. :P

I used to have major anxiety in regards to sales assistances and the feeling of being watched and/or intruded upon while shopping, especially in higher end stores where it tends to happen more often (smaller stores, less customers). I kind of had to train myself to deal with it. Though I still get a little anxious going into new stores where I don't know how the service is.

In regards to the blazers that I tried on, I didn't really get to make my mind up on what I thought about them. I'm considering ordering them online in both sizes to try them on at home and see, but I am wondering if that's an ok thing to do...? I'm not too experienced when it comes to online shopping, but I feel like I've been ordering and returning a LOT of things, and I fear that one day someone will ban me from shopping any more at their store or something.

Also, I've been looking at coats all through this season to find something I like as I've been a little tired of my all-black winter outerwear, but I haven't seen anything that I've thought twice about. Yesterday while shopping with my boyfriend my attention wandered as he was looking at some gadgets, and I saw some coats in Mango that I really liked. I'm hesitant about the quality in Mango, and they were only 53% wool anyway, but if anyone sees something similar somewhere, please let me know! Both of the colours were perfect (it's so hard to find the right shades of both grey and camel, I think), and they had the right combination of clean lines and feminine that I like.

And you are probably right about the jante law, eizhowa. Also, in regards to the traditional sweaters that people seem to favour here (I have a grey Fana cardigan myself... ), Norwegians tend to like showing off their Norwegian-ness, I think, in a kind of romanticizing of the culture...

^I've had really bad sweaters that had 100% wool and have great ones that are 50% polyester. The material doesn't (always) guaranty the quality. The polyester or other artificial sometimes really add something to an item, the sweater that has 50% polyester keeps it shape much better than similar sweaters that are 100% cotton.

Regarding annoying sales assistent, I'm quite good at keeping people at a distance without having to do anything for it. I greet them back friendly and go my own way, but I must say I feel watched as well in empty stores. I just try to ignore it..

^^That's true of course, but in regards to fabric composition I am mostly worried that it wouldn't be warm enough as a winter coat with so little wool?
