The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #8

An unlimited budget would certainly change things. I think my style would be a lot less basic. With a bigger budget I would like to wear Haider Ackermann, Dries van Noten, Thom Browne, Visvim, Maison Margiela and some more. ^_^
And by wear I mean own the entire collection, since money isn't an issue.. :innocent:

Those brands represent a price point I'm not able (and/or willing) to spend on clothes right now.

I would also wear suits, unlimited budget means not having to do your own dry cleaning. :D

^Not having to clean my clothes would be great. I have often dreamt of a houseelf that could hang up and brush my coats, stuff my handbags and polish my shoes between wears...

Caramel, Thanks for the relpy:flower: I have heard rumors about the people at NHH & the law school in Bergen.... Oh, hours and hours of fun:lol: I have friends who came home for the summer after studying at the law faculty and NHH and they had aged at least 5 years in 10 months... *shudders* They became so formal and started wearing pressed shirts instead of tees etc:rolleyes: I don't understand why they feel like they need to wear suits to study law:rolleyes: I might have to buy sweatpants in protest:lol:

I have no idea if there are more posh people in Stavanger, because I have never been to Bergen so I have nothing to compare with... Stavanger is less posh than Bærum if that helps:P:lol:

I put in an offer on the boots. I have been looking for a pair of heeled boots with thin sole for a long time, and the Dicker boots were not outrageously expensive. The boots will be my April item.

I've actually never been to Stavanger either, I guess I just have an image of it being fairly posh, being the oil capital and all. Bergen is generally very relaxed (a little too much so in my opinion).

Are you actually studying law? Better get yourself some pearl earrings if you want to fit in, then. :P I remember when I first started university, there was a piece in the student paper about the stereotypes of each faculty, with pictures and illustrations, and they were scarily accurate! I studied at the humanities faculty, where the secondhand/alternative style reigned supreme and no one would blink twice if you came to class in pyjama pants, and I was always way overdressed. But I actually don't think the differences are that obvious anymore, I feel like people generally look more and more the same (trendy/scandinavian).

Do let me know if/when you get here if you want to meet up and talk 4-5 piece wardrobe in person (i.e. gossip about the rest of the members :innocent: ).

^Hehe, you will recognize me easily. I will be that one person hanging around the law school not wearing pearl earrings:P I have a lot of pearl earrings-girls at my school right now... Luckily, I have old friends (without pearls) who study law as well... I will keep your offer in mind:wink:

I was able to buy the boots:smile: I think they are this color. It is really difficult to tell because the lighting is different in every picture of the "faded black" boots I have found online.

I probably won't recieve them until after easter though, because the post office closes down. How rude.

You could do that, but remember we know what's on your wishlist..
It would be a shame if everything would suddenly be out of stock, wouldn't it? :shifty:

^Why it means you have no soul of course:wink:

In Norway a certain group of girls wear pearl earrings... In my city they all dress the same and wear the same selection if brands. Large pearl earrings (although it seems the size of the pearls are inversely proportional to their age...), Michael Kors bag, Canada Goose jacket, sometimes a moncler jacket, white converse and skinny jeans... thats the uniform. I do not wish to be a part of that group...

^ There is absolutely nothing wrong with pearl earrings (I wear them myself sometimes), it's just a matter of context. They've become a symbol for a certain style and stereotype in this case.

Damn, you have a point...

So I found the perfect black belt today... It is from Mulberry, but it is from 2010 and they don't sell it anymore... I have also found the perfect black versatile scarf. It is from spring 2014, and is not sold in my country anymore... I always fall in love with pieces way too late. I am very fashion backwards apparently:wink:

My wishlist:
- Black double prong belt, preferably a second hand Mulberry one. I also wouldn't mind a tan one, but it is not priority right now...
- Panama hat. I like the one from Sensi Studio on NAP. I am waiting for free shipping... I am not sure spending 116 euros on a white hat is very stupid or not. I wouldn't mind some input here...
- Black silk/wool scarf, preferably from BeckSøndergaard. This is not a must have, but the scarves are very reasonable, and the cost per wear would be very low for me. Every day in Norway is a scarf day:smile:
- Gold necklace. I have some gold to melt so why not:smile: I need some quality jewlery. I will see what my goldsmith can make:smile:
- Fitted black/white breton - This is a maybe item as well...

Betina, how are you liking your striped top from Mads Norgaard. I think it is the same "shop family" as your striped top? I am considering a breton from the brand, but it is 550 NOK so I don't want to buy it is it is a complete dud...

I have recieved my suede boots, and they fit really nicely:smile: I'd forgotten how loud heeled boots are... That will take some getting used to. Stomp stomp stomp...

I really feel like I am working on the finishing touches of my wardrobe now. I am optimistic that the 1 piece per month approach will work:smile: Since I started this method I have spent less money every year. I think I reduced my spending by 40% in year two. This is year 3, so I am hoping for another 30-40% reduction. If I achieve this, my clothes budget will almost be normal (and without shopping at H&M:(angel:

Oh, are we trying to be normal here?

On the hat, I would say if you are going to really wear it & you think you can keep it clean, why not?

I have started walking more softly lately (haven't started carrying a big stick, as of yet), and it makes less noise & is easier on your feet. Plus you can surprise people

^I am a heels first walker. Always have been... My mother could always tell who was comming down the stairs by the noise:lol:

Do white straw hats get dirty much? I have no idea if they are easy to maintain or not. But I do know that if a hat looks cheap that I won't wear it at all... So buying something inexpensive is not an option either.

I just reread what I wrote in my previous post, and my question to Betina made no sense (it is so nice when you loose your brain just before a final exam), so I am trying again:

Betina, how are you liking your Norgaard på Støget striped top? You mentioned you were going to buy one. I think it is from the same brand-family as the top I want.

Just stopped by to mention that UPS just delivered my repaired Patagonia jacket ... all is well and the whole thing cost me only $5.

@Eizhowa: Well, actually I havent bought it yet. They have three different kind of stripes in their basic line, and I cant seem to decide which one I want

Nørgaard På Strøget is the cheaper, basic line. Mads Nørgaard is a bit more expensive and with more attention to detail. I was actually looking at the one youre considering, yesterday. It seemed nice

That's cheap fashionista-ta! Well done.

Very nice wishlist eizhowa. A white hat is beautiful, but it's white you know :P and I'm always a bit scared of white , will it stay white or not, stains etc. I've got an old brown synthetic woven summer hat, it's very handy but there is a darker stain (I think because of the sweating ) at the crown/brim intersection in the front. I've had it in the washing machine, but it didn't change a bit.

I think there are some horizontal stripes addicted persons over here. :innocent: :D

Bought myself a nice special item, a Rick Owens dress. :woot:

^ We need a picture of the dress!! Congrats, very exciting.

Maybe we can have a Stripes Anonymous (or Bretons Anonymous) thread for those who need it

I wish the snap had not broken in the first place (but I do have to admit I probably stressed it by often using only one), but I'm pretty impressed with how Patagonia fixed it.

By the way, Betina, did you notice if the top was very small in size? They only carry M and larger in the norwegian online stores. I want it to fit like this.

^I didn't, but I am going by the store tomorrow - I can try it on, if you like?

^Yes:D That would be great!

I found this online:
"Measurements in size M:
Bust: 68 cm. (stretchable)
Length: 52 cm."

So I think they run very small/are very fitted. I wouldn't mind a second opinion though. If the sleeves reach down to your knees etc. it probably won't work for me either:P
