The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #9

Betina (again), H&M Basics have some plain white crew neck tees. My sister bought them in ivory and pure white and I have stolen both, because they didn't twist in the wash. They were only 90 kr each so they were a steal. Litteraly:shifty:

Maybe a way to make it more casual would be with the shoes ... like maybe wear it with espadrille wedges?

I think it is fairly boho casual for a long dress as well, but for one wedding the bride will be wearing a short dress and on reddit the general opinion was that a long dress is no go for a guest then. Maybe I should have asked you guys first  I will definetely go for a midi if I have it hemmed. I will go casual with accesories, knowing me I will probably wear my fringe-y leather jacket with it. I don't think espadrilles really suit my style - I was considering that too though.

Thx for the tee recommendation Eizhowa. I usually buy the organic cotton tee from Gina tricot but I will look for the h&m ones too.

I was about to click "buy" on those plain leather tango dupes but suddenly I cannot decide if the plain leather combined with the shape makes them look a little matronly  any thoughts?

I think the style of the shoe is ridiculously gorgeous in any type of leather or even colour, but if you could provide some pictures it might be easier to form an opinion

I am very enamoured with the patent version, so I don't think I can give an objective response.

Massimo dutti are doing a pale pink dupe. I remember I saw them in spain, but forgot to mention them. I am not sure if you are set on getting a black dupe.

Thx for your input guys. I definetely think the patent brings some "oomph", but in the end the shape of the toe was just too square and I think that just made the shape of the shoe look less elegant. So no shoes this time.

Yeah, I saw those and the shape looks really good, but I would really like something black.

^ Maybe you can save the purchase of the real thing for next year ... and put your Christmas $$$ toward the purchase :flower:

Well, I am totally kicking myself today ... :hardhead: I had found some black Lanvin ballets on Yoox, my size, marked down, ornament I really liked ... and now they're sold out because I didn't order them immediately. My reasons for not doing so now seem utterly idiotic :hardhead: Geez ... big sigh.

^I will be able to buy them this year no problem, but after trying to have to care for patent shoes I do not feel like spending that amount of money on that sort of thing  not even sure they're available in plain leather.

Ugh, hate when that happens!

I still really believe it's the quality of the leather rather than the patent finish that's behind the trouble you've been experiencing. The glazed and patent shoes I've had for many years are easy care  If you want I can take pictures for you. The Dolce ones are maybe 15 years old, and the Choos I bought in 2008.

My patent porsellis have been worn to death, but they don't have any scratches either (but lets not talk about the leather sole...) And valentino leather ought to be even better. Have you found any online reviews that write about the amount of scratching? Do you know if you have a walking style that causes shoes to scratch where your feet touch?

Edit: and I have walked a lot on gravel with my patent shoes as well.

Ordered a couple of Armani Ts like the ones I already have ... I wear the purple and grey ones a lot, year round, as layering pieces. And since Yoox had 30% off select pieces today, and they would bump me up to free shipping, I got these Cucinelli wool trousers from my dream box. They are too warm to wear right now I assume, but for winter they'll be perfect. Hopefully my size is the same for a more tailored fit. In any case, I'll find out ...

I will not count the white T as usual, but will count the other pieces, assuming everything works ...

Thx guys - it is not (just) the scratching, which isn't that bad tbh - it is also having to clean them after a rain fall and the like. Caring for a pair of plain leather shoes just seems easier. I don't believe my walking style cause me to scratch them, but I don't want shoes that I have to be overly cautious with.

I still love them, and that shape is hard to beat. I am just not sure it is a worth while investment for me right now. I still need that blazer/jacket for work, assuming I ever find one.

@Ta-ta: loving the minty green colour of that tee.

^ Thanks ... me too  It's a color I have in my house a lot, less so in my wardrobe, but one of my favorites. Other than this color, I notice that my recent purchases have been very basic. So in upcoming months I have two things in mind ... one, I need a small cross-body bag for my new sport  I'm thinking of one I saw at Bottega, but didn't feel I had a need for at the time. It's soft and lightweight, should be comfortable to wear.

The other thing is I would like to find a statement piece for this season, and one for next. Probably tops/sweaters, something in that category. It's too bad the floral sweater didn't work, because I think it would have qualified.

I'm unsure whether to count the cross-body bag if I do indeed get one ... I probably should. But I don't want to! It's nothing more than a pouch with a detachable strap.

If I'm out in the rain, I do nothing other than put my shoes in an airy location away from heat to dry. (You may recall the tragedy of the moldy espadrilles ...) They seem to be none the worse for it

I am not sure it is the rain that stains shoes, I think it is all the salt the government uses to melt the snow. It stays on the ground for months and whenever it rains it gets absorbed into the leather shoes. Not sure if the danish government use salt but who knows. I don't know if the danes have snow in May either :P

It [is] very unlike you

Again, it could be the quality of the leather, but I feel like the splashes leave marks. Also where I live I will get small splashes of mud on my shoes once in a while, and that is just not as easily removed as on plain leather.
