The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #9

I am obviously not counting it as one of the 4-5 pieces. I am counting it as... a basic? An accessory?

^ Well ... now you have that occasion wear you've been wanting! It may only be one occasion though ... I read about vintage silk shredding when you wear it

^I have heard about it shredding as well.

^ Oh goodness ... I was picturing something less dramatic, little graceful shreds :o Be sure to wear something substantial underneath  That's a gorgeous dress on Kate.

@Eizhowa: I vote that you use it as wall decorations and therefore count it as interior  I would love to see a picture.

@Ta-ta:
: Oh, I actually meant that I pulled "THE snap" = (online shopping done in 5 minutes from first instagram view to pressing "buy) :D that rarely happens, but this dress just really spoke to me. I have zero luck with online shopping these days though, so I will be pleasantly surprised if it actually fits. Seems like really good service with your patagonia coat though! I dod however manage to make a hole in the fabric of my dark blue Ganni wrap dress. I have repaired it but, but it is near the hem, so I am considering having it hemmed to remove the hole entirely. Wouldn't mind it being a bit shorter anyway.

Seems like pretty long shipping time for your yoox items? I am still waiting for a pair of shoes I bought last weekend as well.

They are actually not straw but bamboos. Reviews are pretty good, however, with shipping+import taxes turns the price from 138 to 250. I can see that NAP has been stocking the brand but they cannot say whether they will get it again and since it keeps selling out and is currently available for preorder, I don't really feel like playing the waiting game. But you are right, it is quite classic and something I could wear for years to come, and it would be nice with something different. - and no risk of having to go naked, and I have the money - and a bit more ATM than I have had since ... ever, and will have once I go back to studying. So maybe I should live a little - my only concern is whether there is something else that would be more fun/worthwhile spending the money on.

Also, the bag is available for preorder and I can see that the money will be withdrawn as soon as I purchase the bag - not when it is actually ship, and that makes me a bit iffy. Is that just me?

Is the thing yoox is doing even legal? And what kind of chair did you get?

Ah, that snap

Hmm ... I know pre-order works different ways ... when it's pre-season usually there's either no charge or 50%. However, since NAP is reputable, I wouldn't be worried about losing the money. It would think they really are reordering the bag, and will get it back in stock.

I'm not sure how you have your bag organized. I have most of my things in small leather goods, but the openings are wide enough, and it looks like there's no built-in pocket, so I would probably need to get an additional little bag to store things I keep in the bag's own pocket, or that are big enough to keep loose in a regular bag but might fall out of this one. It's a bit like a transparent bag in that everything is on display ...

I'm not familiar with European laws, so I'm not sure. It certainly is deceptive. They claim that the 'Yoox price' is generally 50% of retail, but naturally don't mention the possibility it could be 120% or more of retail  I would love to know how they price ... it may be a markup based on what they paid. If that's true, they are getting ripped off sometimes.

I got a Thos. Moser chaise ... details in the decorating thread  If you're interested, I could post a pic of the wood and leather samples that show how it will be made.

Probably no one will notice the repair, but it sounds like hemming it will make you feel better, so it's probably a good idea.

Definetely a more pleasant snap

It is not NAP - it is the brand itself. If it had been NAP I wouldn't have worried a bit. I can see that NAP had it a some point but they don't right now and cannot tell me whether they will in the future - would have been great though since I do not have to pay taxes neither then. Since the bag keeps selling out and is available for preorder on the brands own webshop (as the only place) I am not sure I want to wait and see if NAP gets it in stock, so I guess I'll just have to live with having to pay import taxes. The total amount is charged at checkout even though it is preorder and not shipping before June - I am not 100% comfortable about that, but the site has good reviews.

I do not think the gaps of the bag is too big but according to reviews keys will stick out in the bottom of the bag. I have a small coinpurse that I do not use anymore, so I guess I'll just put my keys in there to solve that problem. But it is not a practical bag, I know. Perhaps it is too impractical.

I am pretty sure that in Denmark it is illegal to state a higher
retail price than the the actual price.

Your chair looks gorgeous - and very comfortable!

^ Thanks--it is a very comfortable chair, can't wait to get it!

Just stopped by to report that top #4 bit the dust today ... this time a peach T with a sizable hole. It will be demoted to loungewear as soon as I get home

We've probably discussed this before, but how do you guys navigate between wants and needs? I am obsessed with the cult gaia ark bag atm - I cannot remember the last time an item spoke to me like this. Also I find it very timeless due to the vintage look even if it is a very "now" item. It is not very practical, my hubby thinks it is silly, and I can see that it is probably better suited for another climate than what I live in. At the same time I do not have any other things that I NEED right now and I firmly believe in buying what you love. I would love to hear the thoughts of you guys (gals  )

I never really answered this, but I don't think I can give you any advice to be honest. I mean, I bought a wedding dress even though I am officially unemployed in 3 weeks and still single...:innocent:

I have hung the dress on my wall per your suggestion by the way  Will post a picture one day when I am not as busy with uni.

@Ta-ta: That's it. I believe your closet is cursed!

@Eizhowa: so in other words, just do it? :Pink:

On the one hand I feel like doing just that. On the other hand the whole preorder (shipping has just been pushed from beginning of June to end of June), import taxes and "all EU sales are final" (no returns) is just not that appealing to me for such an expensive item. I have actually found a pretty similar (like pretty much the same except for the logo) item on ebay at a lower price, with delivery before the end of May and with a return option, and albeit I would usually never choose this option I am considering it. Normally I wouldn't buy a "copy", but since the "original" is based of a vintage bag I must admit I do not really care in this case and if it is rubbish I can send it back. It is not that I do not want to pay the price for the "original" but I don't really like buying something that I cannot see IRL before buying/cannot return if I do not like it IRL. It would be okay for something non expensive but for a 250 dollar bag I would like to know I will be happy with it before making a final purchase, I guess (pardon my rambling).

.... I bet it is a gorgeous wedding dress, nonetheless and of course an occasion will arrive sooner or later

You mean like a first date? I bet it would be so successful if I wore a wedding dress to a first date:shifty:

I can understand why paying 250 for an unseen item is scary. I personally would not have an issue with buying a copy bamboo or straw bag, but that is possibly because I have never been in love with a specific designer bag of that sort. I couldn't buy a copy Chanel reissue bag, for example, even if it was different enough to not be considered an illegal copy.

Yes, nothing signals "I am a cool person - date me" like wearing a wedding dress on a first date

I think we totally aggree - I would never buy a copy/very designer inspired bag normally either, but since the "original" is basically a copy of the vintage bag (I have seen some of the original vintage bags on etsy, but there are none available ATM), I really do not think I would feel bad about it.

yoox

Received my Yoox order today ... the top is a keeper, the pants are not. The cut isn't right for me ... particularly in the legs. The other pants I'm interested in are not yet down to the price I want to pay, or else are final sale (noooo ...) so I ordered a black long-sleeved wool top instead ... hopefully it will be what I'm looking for. It has the signature metal trim, looks like just at the neckline (you know how the pix are on Yoox ... not the best).

PS You may want to take the wedding dress off the wall before bringing your date back to your apartment

Just stopped by to report that my order came yesterday, and it's a keeper. It occurred to me that that metallic trim at the neck should prevent all the neckline issues I've been having recently. Tried it on with my Lanvin pearl-trim sweater, and it worked well. Excited I've filled a hole in my wardrobe that's been there for years! Now for a cold, rainy day so I can wear it ... :shifty:

I recommend a trip to any Scandinavian country:wink:

^ That would cost more than the top though  But I do want to come visit you happy people

I was happy to come home and find my Glamour Rewards check for a bit more than $87! (All from my Yoox purchases I believe.) I'm not spending it on clothes though. I had to get up in my attic today, and since the roofers have been pounding away this week, all this junk had collected in the trapdoor, which then fell down into my hallway. My vacuum wasn't up to the task of this much bigger than usual mess, and I decided I have to get a Dyson. Chatting with their guy right now to figure out which model to buy ...

Well the dollar is very strong right now

Not sure if I mentioned it, but I recieved the Ganni sequin kimono. It really does need wide waist belt unless I choose to wear it as a coat instead of a dress. I am hoping to thrift one.

I know I talked about wanting to change my color palette to go with my new hair color, but I have lately falled back in love with rust... So lets just pretend it is 2013 again:wink:

eizhowa:´dejavu much? I think I missed this: what is your haircolor now? I feel like a new hairstyle can change your look a lot. I am considering cutting bangs again, but I a not quite sure.

RE the Ganni kimono it looks great layered over a slip dress - or any other tight dress.

^A medium golden blonde with dark ashy roots.
