The Acne Thread #3

my sister tried it a few years ago. She said, it does nothing for her... she even get more pimples on the forehead

As I mentioned in the previous post, retinoids (including prescription topical creams like Differin, Retin-A and Tazorac), BHAs (salicylic acid being most common - look for products with a 2% concentration) and AHAs (glycolic acid being very common, and mandelic acid has a great reputation) are pretty much universally regarded as the way to treat scars. They are also the principal means of dealing with active acne, so there is double the benefit.
Are there any specific products anyone can recommend with the above properties to alleviate acne scars?

Also, can acne scars be gotten rid of?

Eternitygoddess,

I'd personally recommend the glycolic cleanser from Mario Badescu. The thread is pretty active on this site if you want to read some reviews. The MB website also has a lot of information.

I have the most stubborn case of acne and it's such a burden. I've tried so many things, the only thing that has worked to improve my skin (not heal all unfortunately -_-) was going to a dermatologist and having facials, laser treatments, etc. every 2 weeks. But I have moved now, and the weather here (hot & humid) does nothing but only evil things to my oily acne prone skin :( I just bought clinique 3 step for oily skin, so I'm hoping that this helps to improve matters since I've heard good things about this line of products.

I don't usually get acne, my skin is always pretty good to me. But whenever I wash my face with a product I get these annoying zits under my skin (usually on my chin). I can fix the problem by not using anything but then my skin is dull. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a cleanser that doesn't give me zits, I guess. I use products for combo skin (because I only get them on my chin) but they don't work.

what do you guys think about Microdermabrasion?

ive broken out from microdermabrasion, especially if you break open one. Also dont be too harsh. Be REALLY gentle. Sometimes we think scrubbing harder and longer will make a product more effective especially when its expensive like microdermabrasion and its not. Think more of a soft massage instead of scrubbing.

but did you do it yourself or a specialist did it?

home microdermabrasion. ive never been willing to spend that much on one session.

what are some good spot treatments? anything natural-ish that can be made at home? like i know turmeric + lemon juice is good but sometimes it stings a lot.

^are you diluting the lemon juice with water? I find straight up lemon juice is too hash on my skin.

what do you guys think about Microdermabrasion?
I have a treatment every 3-4 weeks and it really works! I don't have bad skin but it's very good for your blood circulation and danders. LIke a peeling.
But you should have get it done by a dermatologist or cosmetician, IMO.

Hm.. So, I've got some red bumpy pimples on my face that are apparently called "papules", which brought up a lot of penis related stuff in Google. Anyone have an info/suggestions for treatment?

Does anyone know any good treatments for red / inflamed blotches over the skin (from acne)?

Wash face in warm water to open up pores. dilute an asprin tablet in a few drops of water.Do a spot treatment. Leave on till it dries then wash off. It will take the redness & swelling out. I like to just flake it off my face (acne)them add a moistvrizer on top.

What type of oils would you guys recommend to alleviate acne scars? (As in make them disappear)

I tried Mario Badescu's Glycolic Gel but I want to combine it with something else.

Recommendations?

So I bought a bottle of tea tree + lavender oil and used it on my acne scars.

Is it supposed to sting like a b*tch?
