The Blonde Hair Thread

I promised myself I wouldn't dye my hair until I graduated.. and that was in November. Well, I'm done school in April so I'm finally narrowing down the choices I want to do to my hair.

I need some input!

Me now:

Not the clearest pic, but its a dark blonde.

What I'm thinking off:

teenagexvanity, actually I love your current color!
But if you want to change, I really like the first one. The problem with very fair hair is you've to dye it every month and that's annoying!

Anyway, I'm looking for a piece of advice. My hair is now reddish. My natural colour is chocolate brown. I dyed my hair many times to blonde but this summer I wanted to change, but now I'm a bit tired.
Is that to difficult/damaging for my hair shifting from this colour:

And would it be good on me?

It will be difficult because of the red tones :( Red is the hardest pigment to get out of your hair. But a pro shouldn't have any problem doing it! You'll probably have to start with highlights, unless you're okay with having it stripped.

Teenagexvanity, I think you would look lovely in the first haircolor you posted, you have the skin tone for it!

thanks!

i feel kinda weird with everyone calling me teenagevanity LOL its such an old screen name, how embarrassing!

feel free to call me Kali :)

Red is really hard, and I agree, start with something more small scale and gradual. My friend went red this summer then wanted to go back to blond and it turned orange after about a week

Kali, your natural color is sooo gorgeous. btw you are a total beauty! why would you like to change your hair color? its seems so perfect for your skin tone and so on.. ;)

emmawoodhouse please provide a proper image credit per tFS guidelines or your image will be removed. Thank you in advance.

Its not natural! You can't see my roots TOO badly in that photo.. but theyre a dark ash blonde.. its that awkward colour between brown and blonde that has to be dyed! as a little girl i was platinum, and it progressively got more and more dark.

but thank you so much, you're too kind :)

it looks like it could be your natural color, it suits you perfectly. and i'm not kind, you really are a rare beauty. ;)

well am officially back to blond. been about a month now.
i didn t know how much i missed it till i changed the color:blush:

My hair now (a wind didn't do me a favour:lol:). I'm thinking about getting lighter highlights, because I find my bangs a bit too dark.

as far as i can tell i dont think there is much change in pictures. i didnt really like the toner used to darken my hair last time though. its not awful but i notice everything. since im pretty blonde these days, my hairdresser didnt run the bleach through to the ends so the top of course was lighter so she put a toner to darken which is fine. but i think it has a very slight gold cast...nothing wrong with golden blondes but i dont like it me, ash definitely flatters my skintone more. im due for a touch up in about a week anyways :)

I know what you mean, I think ash goes better with me as well as far as looking natural goes, I guess bc it's more toned down. I'm pretty golden right now too though and I like it

^ yeah i feel like it doesnt have the harmony with my skintone, the gold almost makes my hair feel like a separate entity on my head lol going against my looks instead of with it.

in a week or so when im back in in the salon, im going to do full hightlights but also concentrate on heavier ash blonde highlights on the middle and bottom layers because its darker than the top part of my head. i was just going to go untoned which is what she usually does because the color comes out very pretty like creamy&bright. but since she put that darker toner last time...i kind of want to make sure she gets all of my hair back to being ashier rather than only the new higlighted pieces.

hey! i need advice on how to dye dark hair blonde again.
i'm naturally dark blonde like this:

right now however my hair is very dark brown, almost black. at first i thought the color really flattered my face, but as my skin has turned ghostly white during winter (and i don't like tanning spas), this almost black makes me stand out, not in a good way. also, having to dye my roots all the time - it grows really fast - is getting annoying already.
so i was wondering, as a person with light average european skin, which shade of blonde would suit me the best? i was thinking going back to my natural (dark blonde), but going from nearly black to blonde - would it work? that is the main question on my mind, as i wouldnt want to end up looking like fuzzball AND definitely not red.

well u can t do it in one shot.
it takes several visits to the salon to get back to blond.
they re gonna lighten it a few shades lighter first then from there the next time u ll get back to ur old blond.
but u ll have to wait a few weeks btwn visits

thanks for the reply. didnt expect to get one so quick :flower: i suppose im gonna book an appointment at the hair dresser soon then
anyways. i managed to find a picture of my natural hair color. the picture is about 5 years old, because about 4,5 years ago i began dyeing my hair - first platinum blonde, then red, dark brown etc...
actually, i had nearly white hair as a kid but its gotten darker throughout the years
