I am this colour at the moment:

But I kind of want to go darker for autumn but I don't feel I'm brave enough because I have been blonde ever since I was 1 but I have always wanted to do it. If I buy a semi permanent hair dye will it eventually fade to my natural or will it never go back to the same shade?
I want to go with something like these shades either darker or lighter:

Whats the best brand of hair dye to buy?

stannerslove i want to do the same thing. i bought an 8 wash darkish brown hair dye today but i don't know if i want to use it incase i change my mind and decide i want to stay blonde after all lol.
has anyone with blonde hair gone darker with semi-permanant dye? did it wash out? and would it make a difference if the hair was dyed blonde or natural? coz mine is half-half

i went brunette to light blonde so not natural lol i dyed my light blonde hair a medium blonde with a permanent color at salon but it faded pretty fast like in a month, it as nearing 'light' spectrum again. i think bleached hair has more 'holes' and doesn't hold color as well unless fillers are involved but the only time they used fillers in my hair was to go back to brunette which held the color reallllly well, 10 months before i needed to touch up the brunette.

see my old post for comparison here

^ welcome to the bright side BLUECHIP lol

i'd kill for blonde hair. those who have it naturally are sooo lucky!

I bought J. Frieda highlight activating moisturising shampoo & conditioner, again.
I  it!

Some time ago I recommended Depend Bleach to go from dark to platinum, but well, I take it back! A couple of weeks ago I used it to touch up my dark roots and it totally burned off my hair and I am now left with quite a large patch of 2 cm long hair on the top of my head so I can hardy wear it down anymore without looking like a freak :( I think it's the worst thing that has ever happened to me hairwise except when I was six and my mom cut off all my hair so I ended up looking like a boy. SO, DO NOT USE DEPEND BLEACH!

Anyways, since I obviously can't stay platinum blonde (I can't afford going to the hairdressers every third week and I will never trust a home bleach brand ever again), I am looking to dye it a bit of a darker, more natural blonde, perhaps with some high- and downlights. But I cannot afford this at the moment, and my roots are growing out crazy fast, so I was wondering if anyone of you have any idea how to dye it at home without it turning green, orange etc? I'm thinking in the shade of Vlada and Anna posted above here. Please give me some tips on how to do this at home? I know it's possible, but I don't know what to use, since bleached hair doesn't take colour that well. I'm desperate!
Thanks in advance.

^ thanks lawson, sorry i can't really give advice from experience for dyeing platinum blonde hair. i think a filler would probably be necessary to fill up the 'holes' and hold the dye. you should probably check out some beauty supply stores and see if the workers there have tips for dyeing, they may have experience in DIY. i hope things work out okay for your hair! :flower:

the hair in post #765 looks fried IMO

Just found this thread! My hair is long, medium blonde and baby fine, it lightens in a flash in the sun. Now I'm living in the outback though and aren't out in the surf so much it doesn't get a great deal of light anymore, and so isn't nearly as light as it used to be, the ends used to be white. I'll get a pic of it tomorrow.

Anyway, first of all I must say something to someone:

This is my blonde:

It's my natural hair color. The structure is completely straight though, here it's wavy due to opening a bun only.

Maybe I'd like to tone in down to a "muddier", colder blonde - like Vlada's. But I haven't found my hair dresser of trust yet and apart from that I am a bit scared cause they are really long by now and I don't wanna mess things up

Pengy don't you dare touch that incredible hair!!! That is my dream hair. I am all kinds of jealous right now and would trade my 'muddy' blonde with you in half a heartbeat! <<sigh>> :P

My hair! It's virgin hair, never touched a dye bottle, baby fine and naturally straight; I've just taken it out of the plait I must do every night to prevent it coming to life in my sleep and strangling me.

It looks quite dark in the photo actually, I'm sure it's lighter in real life as the ends are quite pale, so perhaps the kinks must stop the light hitting it right. Might try again later. It used to be just plain medium blonde, but as I went through my teens it began getting warmer and warmer toned and I'm sure is still getting more ginger every day! I think it's the ghost of my fire-top Scottish grandmother haunting me....

Is norwegian bleach different from other bleach? :P
Well it's not exactly Norwegian, but scandinavian:lol: and I'm not sure if it's that much different from the hair products they sell in for example Spain, but it's definitivley different from the bleach and hair color they have in Asia. since Asian hair is thicker, like the hair strands(?) it can take stronger bleach and it also need a stronger one..like I had to bleach my hair 3 times with the Scandi bleach but only 1 with the Asian:lol:

^ that makes sense, probably a lower potency(or volume) of bleach since it probably wasn't intended for very dark or thick hair.
