The Blonde Hair Thread

^Girl you don't know how many Europeans I've encountered who didn't know what our natural hair color is:lol:

 or people think everything dark is black hair. i base on how it looks like in sunlight. my best friend when i was a kid had the darkest hair ever, it only reflect / shined white, you could never see any brown. it has lightened on it's own as she got older, probably by the sun.

i usually go by official color charts, i love looking at hair swatches! :D

I agree, it's a great colour but I would classify it as brunette, but that's probably because in Scandinavia so many people (me included) has very very light blonde as a natural color and I have these blondes around me all the time. ^_^

As for me, I've been going back to my natural color for a while now, I've had it dark for so long. I had almost forgotten how tiring it is to bleach hair, stinging of the peroxide on your scalp, dry and damaged ends... it's just easier to be a bit darker.

thanks CharmingNicky. oh yeah i definitely get that! actually, the same thing happens a lot here in California too. my friends who are natural dark blondes want to lighten their hair so they would be more in the blonde category but i always tell them no! it's gorgeous, i think that borderline color is so underrated, very earthy. but my dark blonde friends have tans so i think that's why the color works so well on them, same for Natalia Vodianova. that's one of the reasons i'm planning to get medium blonde highlights next since i've had the before and liked it with my skin tone.

i think composition has to do with it too. my friends who have super white blonde(like between light and platinum) peek-a-boo highlights always complain about it not being light enough...i'm like "girl, you craycray! any lighter and your hair will break off!"

Nicky(i keep wanting to call you Darling Nikki after the Prince song ), what shade of blonde are you going back to? i don't think peroxide stings my head much but i might just be used to it.... i remember when was doing the light blonde bleach out, i had two people working on my hair because the bleach was so strong so they needed to work fast. my hairdresser asked me if my hair was stinging, i was like "nah, i'm coo". to me it felt the same as if i was dyeing my hair.

i took a quick pix before i left the house today. this time in natural lighting, non-direct sunlight. excuse the dampness, i just ran a wide tooth comb tooth through my hair and was letting my hair air dry :mohawk:

Seriously? My cousins asked me what my natural hair color was when I had blonde-ish hair, and I thought it was a bit funny, but they're like 9 and 6 so I just thought they didn't know better:innocent::rolleyes::lol:
I think blonde hair can actually look natural on Asians..just look at Kissablekae:wink::flower: that's prob why ppl get confused because they prob think that it will look so unnatural and orange if an Asian person were to bleach her/his hair:doh: Orange:ninja::shock::lol:

^ loonaka :winkiss:, lol @ your last three smilies!
your cousins sound adorable! kids are funny like that ^_^
the orange thing did really used to be the common fear. but back in the day hairdressers were probably less experienced with dealing with different hair types like minorities, i wouldn't have trusted them either! i would assume that the bleach and toner/glazes have gotten much better since then too, more effective and less damaging.

Jennifer Aniston
whenever i watch her movies, i'm always oogling her hair :crush:

Oh I've seen ppl with orange hair, you know the weird color Asians get if something goes wrong  My ex actually liked my orange hair :ninja:  when I first bleached my hair..I don't think it was a good idea to use bleach for Scandinavian hair  All that hair is long gone now :buzz:

Jennifer Aniston's colour is so perfect and natural :crush:
And to your question kissablekae, I am going to the 'ash blonde' colour, which seems to be very hard to get. My friend who has platinum hair has been trying to get that ashy tone to the blonde for ages but the hairdressers have just failed to make it that. Right now I have this golden/honey tone but I am not that happy with it yet. It is so tempting to go to darker color, it's easier to maintain with home coloring :D even tho the white roots I am getting are so annoying.

ok so i changed my color to dark blond
few weeks ago i went to a VERY expensive salon and when i left i wasn t happy at all with the result
so i just wanted to go darker, but now i ended up with very ashy bottom and light top of the head
how do i get rid of the ashy part, i think it s because my hair was too blond there.
color i did was dark blond

hair turns orange when you have red pigment in it.
and it doesn t only happy to asians since it happens to me too and a lot of girls i know

most european girls don t have that problem though, lucky them

I know, but tho I've never seen it on other than Asians  Actually I've seen that horrible orange colors mostly on Asian guys  :ninja:

i know what u mean. i ve seen guys with orange hair too
and others who dipped their head in peroxide and came out with platinum blond!!!

loonaka, i've seen the orange hair thing too. at least you don't have it anymore! :flower:

nicky, yeah platinum hair is so hard to change!
it might take a couple of sessions to really lift your hair to get the ashyness but in the end it'll be worth ^_^

fashionlova, they might need to dye it again if it's not holding the color

my hair went well ^_^ the lighter highlights brightens everything up.

some quick pix

love that^ I had almost exactly that colour hair in the beginning of summer, then sun lightened it so much.

thanks Nicky ^_^

i think i'm done with highlights for now. if i do decide to lighten more, i'll probably get more done in the "Spring"(semester).

i got a bottle of Moroccan Oil too, i loveee the scent.

^ pretty
light to ultra light or 'baby blonde' is what i like to call it
hard to tell tones in fluorescent lighting though since Blondes pick up so much of the color around them. yours remind me of champagne ^_^

Thank you
Sorry, the photos aren't very good quality! It is very pale in places but much darker in others. I like the phrase 'baby blonde'!

as much as moroccan oil makes the hair shiny and beautiful it also strips it from color. so if you just got your highlights done it s better if you wait a bit before putting it

a quick tip from a moroccan:flower:

i know, baby blonde sounds so adorable

thank you my moroccan lova lova, should i wait a week?
how would it strip color from highlights?

thanks for the pics Kae, you have so many great blonde pics! There are so many beautiful shades, I can never decide what I like the most. your hair is looking wonderful also.

I've never been a HUGE blake lively fan, but i must say her hair has been looking wonderful on the most recent episodes of gossip girl

true, there are so many shades of blond and no two blonds are alike.

as for the oil, we usually use it not only to strenghten the hair but also to get rid of a color we don't like, another thing is it might also darken it.
